This China-is-about-to-buy-Su-35-itis is as tenacious as herpes. Time to close the thread again?

If You wish so ... I will do ! But until it will be opened again I beg You all to think carefully: even if there is for most of all no real requirement or urgency to introduce the Su-35S, even if it is annoying how much these constantly repeating of "old" news simply follows a certain trend to either make the Chinese look dumb (hey, they still need to buy Russian stuff, surely due to engine issues) and even more to make them look aggressive (hey, they expand their armed Forces, they operate above the SCS & ECS, ... we (= US) need to counter them!) or simply since most news are plain stupid, there are still enough reliable posters, who are usually not from the fractions above ... and they still say there is more behind !

As such ... tread closed until maybe MAKS'15.

Just briefly opened as long as the discussion stays polite:

Given my constant critic altitude towards that reported deal "Berkut" from the Key-Forum replied ... and I rate him as one of the most reliable, serious and honest Russian posters there:

So, let's wait and see ...

Indeed...let's wait and see.

The wording continues in such a vein that a contract "is definitely happening and might get signed..." and "This week Moscow will host another round of talks."

I have to say that I will continue very leery and unbelieving until I hear the PRC itself officially announcing it.

Did china really sign contract for su-35? can someone corroborate from Chinese source? This article claims that the contract has been signed.

As it became known to Kommersant, Russia and People's Republic of China (PRC) signed the largest contract for the purchase of 24 aircraft multi-role fighters Su-35. The deal is estimated to be no less than $ 2 billion. Chinese military thus became the first foreign customers of these aircraft: prior to this, their only exploited the Russian air force.

That Moscow and Beijing drew up a deal for the supply of Su-35 fighter jets, Kommersant reported the Director General of State Corporation "Rustech" Sergey Chemezov: "Long talks on delivery of Su-35 in China are completed, we signed a contract." Sources of Kommersant in the sphere of military-technical cooperation argue that under the terms of the agreement, the Chinese AIR FORCE will receive 24 cars with a total value of about $ 2 billion (about $ 83 million per unit). "China officially became the first foreign customer of the Su-35, is unprecedented in the history of contract deliveries of military aircraft," one of the interlocutors stressed "

Maybe this is finally the right time for the deal with the relation between China and Russia at an all time high since the 50s. Russian needs cash due to sanctions and for the Syrian war. China wants to take a look at the SU-35 engines. We will see in few months if it's the same old same old or it actually happen.:)

unlikely, China doesn't need SU-35 ... unless a political move
If the news are true, you do not make sense, the Su-35s cost USD 85 million, dollars a piece, China can make the Su-27s domestically, for much cheaper price, so why China will buy a fighter for Charity? if it is true the reason is super cruising engines and very advanced E/R modules on the IRBIS.

The AESA radar on PAKFA has a lot of those technologies used on Irbis, albeit on an AESA radar.

Also the IRTS on SU-35 has a very long range of detection, these technologies are are useful even for PAKFA.

China is not buying the Su-35 out of charity, the Russians were afraid they might copy the technologies of Su-35.
That drag the negotiations, however from my point of view they decided the Chinese will take 5-15 years to copy the Al-41/117 engine and if the reports are true the latest engine Russia will fit to PAKFA has 17/18 tonnes of thrust.

with the Su-35, basically China will make utterly obsolete the Japanese F-15/F-2, the South Korean F-15Ks and all the major fighters in the Area, with the exception of the F-22.

With China's relatively deep pockets $2b is a bargain to have full TOT on the irbis e and 117S assuming that is part of the contract if true. And they'll also have two dozen very decent strike fighters.
They do not have ToT, basically, the Su-35s are going to be build in Russia, and the engines will have several limitations, if China will copy them, it will not be by legal means, basically 85 million dollars a piece is not a bargain considering China can build a Su-27 with Russian engines for a cheaper price and even buying the Al-31s these engines do not go beyond 3 million dollars a piece
