Chinese OS and software ecosystem

This reaction will seriously backfire on them. The Chinese market is larger than the US one.
The damages to Chinese companies will be more than compensated by sales in China proper after the Western software companies leave.
Sure but it’s the rest of the world that’s the main target here. The US has shown it is willing to lose the Chinese market as long as it can cripple China globally in the process.

Gbox team claim they will support a Android 14 virtual machine with google mobile service on HarmonyOS. It is a blessing and a curse at the same time. Harmony may attract more user with this but at the same time developers may be less likely to do a port. I wonder if there is official support for Harmony from the multios development frameworks like React Native and Flutter?

“We cannot support WeChat Pay in our app yet. Baidu’s SDK [software developer kit] is also not supported so we cannot use Baidu location service,” complained one developer, who was working on a Next app for a large state-owned group.
“It will be a problem for Huawei’s new phone. Users with old Huawei phones can wait to upgrade,” the developer said.

Sounds like fake news, one developer is like the tech equivalent of an anonymous source.

If that's really true then I don't know what Huawei engineers are thinking. However, they are new to this market. So theres bound to be mistakes and glitches here and there. So we shoulf be patient with them. Its not easy.

I can believe it given its was only recently that Huawei and Tencent agreed on terms to get wechat on harmonyos, if im not mistaken.
They could just get a person able to read chinese and confirm from the docs instead of going via one anonymous person.

It's well known Baidu is dragging its feet on HarmonyOS NEXT. There's even a joke about it.

Huawei employee: Boss there's a good news and a bad news about Baidu and HarmonyOS NEXT.
HarmonyOS project lead: Bad news first.
Huawei employee: Baidu apps are completely missing from HarmonyOS NEXT apps roster.
HarmonyOS project lead: and the good news is?
Huawei employee: I'm the only one who noticed!

That means the Chinese government is not doing a push to make HarmonyOS NEXT suceed then. They shoulf have unofficially(through back doors) pushed for all the major private internet companies to make their app on HarmonyOS NEXT or face unofficial repercussions. Just being passive wont be enough since some major players see Huawei as competitor so wont want to ever get on the HarmonyOS wagon irrespective of the market benefitd or not.

Maybe Chinese government has far less control over private corporations than what western propagandas said?
