If that's really true then I don't know what Huawei engineers are thinking. However, they are new to this market. So theres bound to be mistakes and glitches here and there. So we shoulf be patient with them. Its not easy.
not true..

WeChat will be available on HarmonyOS this time..

this new version of HarmonyOS, completely breaks ties with Android and removes all Android code and only supports apps in its native App format.

it's been well known that Tencent came around late in Harmony integration and it's getting there. I don't know why people are wasting time quoting unknown sources on that. Tencent will be on Harmony OS soon enough even if it's not there yet.

Likely just technical dependency delays and bugs. Deveopers of those core 3rd party api are finding technical challenges with porting to harmony os/api or finding show stoping bugs. Everyone downstream will be affected by those delays

FIrst leak screenshot of a development tool running on HarmonyOS. In this case , the IDE to develop HarmonyOS app. IDE is reportedly been rewritten in ArkTS rather than being a plugin as part of the intellij platform (built off java)

"not supporting Baidu location service" is a clear sign that FT is bullshitting again. OS like Android and iOS provides an location service API to apps. It is chip maker and phone maker who makes HW driver to feed the OS. Android and iOS does NOT own or handle GPS chip nor Baidou chip, nor can Android or Google prevent chip and phone maker to provide and integrate any hardware in their phone. The data stream from the chip to OS is plain text of an open standard. So any GNSS chip of any maker of any country can be integrated into any phone if the phone maker want.

In FT's opinion, Android does not support GPS either.

Everyone who talk about Beidou app in a phone should know that there is NO Beidou app, nor GPS app, nor Glonas app, nor Gallilio app. There is ONLY location service of the OS. Chip makers provide their hardware drivers according to API of the OS to phone makers. Baidou chip makers have their driver written for Android API (including earlier HomonyOS) before HomonyOSNext. It takes time for them to rewrite their driver and do integration test in HomonyOSNext before they can release it to Huawei. If that time is dragging feet, every sensor maker has been dragging feet on Android and iPhone for decades.

People, please learn something about electrical engineering and computer science before making sensational posts or just keep quiet.
