Anolis?? Oooh I like the name, very suitable for an OS. It's a genus of very cunning and adaptable arboreal lizards that has evolved species that fit into almost every temperate and tropical ecosystem on earth. You will see them in jungles, forests, parks, gardens, community fences, even along the buildings in cities sometimes. They do not win by force or aggression but by speed and extreme malleability to their surroundings. They're basically the dignified vertebrate version of the cockroach and some species are crown gems in the pet trade for their exhilerating coloration.
Alibaba's Anolis OS version 23 has been released. It seems to just be a custom Linux build. It's installed on over 8 million machines. It looks to have added new AI ecosystem features. Looks like they are trying to replace Centos with this in their local subsidiaries.
btw, having customary forks of Linux is quite common. Even my last employer had its own linux OS
I am hoping that 1 of those 10,000 apps is a virtual Android container so that I will be able to still access a few Android apps, minor apps like the the app I use to order delivery food. Also I got an app to control my heating system, I doubt that will have a native Harmony version.
Apparently Harmony now has 6.75 million registered developers. up 10x in 5 years.
> 10000 apps and services have been launched in HarmonyOS NEXT app market, meeting 99.9% consumer usage time.
Harmony looks to invest 6B RMB per year to encourage developer innovation.
