China's indigenous CGT30 and CGT40 marine gas turbine engines that are of the 30MW and 40MW categories respectively have been officially announced and revealed by the CSSC!

Here's very hopeful that the successors to the 052D/DGs and 055s will be using them. China has officially entered Freedom Kingdom (自由王国) in the field of conventional marine propulsion!

单缸605kW国内最大,填补我国空白】 12月11日,中国船舶旗下陕柴重工自主开发研制的国内缸径最大、单缸功率最大的SXD6L40/52G中速大功率燃气发动机通过性能鉴定,填补了国内中速大功率天然气发动机空白。该发动机成功通过鉴定,标志着我国已经掌握400mm缸径级中速内燃机的点火、高效燃烧、排放控制等关键技术,实现核心技术自主可控。

SXD6L40/52G发动机能够满足TierⅢ排放要求,核心零部件的设计寿命超过32000小时。该项目研制过程注重产权保护和成果积累,共产生专利39项,其中发明专利14项,软件著作权1项。该产品主要适用3MW以上大功率可燃气动力,广泛适用LNG、天然气、沼气等可燃气应用场景,为用户提供高可靠性的动力。

自主开发!我国首台套!船用低速机电控系统获船级社型式认可】近日,中国船舶集团旗下中船动力开发的国内首台套船用低速机电控系统在其自主研制的6EX340发动机上成功通过DNV船级社型式认可。该成果具备完全自主知识产权,各项性能指标均达到国际先进水平,填补了国内低速机电控领域的空白。

电控系统作为低速机的“大脑”和“神经中枢”对精度与可靠性的要求极为严格,属于核心关键部件。该系统硬件、软件全部采用自主设计开发,可实现燃油喷射控制、排气控制、起动空气控制、伺服油控制、滑油控制和转速控制等核心功能。低速机电控系统团队先后攻克了EMC电磁兼容、网络安全等一项项技术难题,反复优化各项参数;通过软件在环仿真技术、快速控制原型技术和硬件在环测试验证技术,反复回溯并修改模型直至满足需求,确保了控制系统性能的不断提升和优化,确保其在复杂海洋环境中的稳定运行

It is China's first high-power simple cycle gas turbine engine with thermal efficiency exceeding 40%.
The performance indexes are fully benchmarked against the world's most advanced MT30 marine gas turbine engine, and it has undergone evaluation and verification.
The overall performance tests of the engine has been completed, and the reliability simulation test are currently underway.

With the photo of the CGT40 exhibited, it can be assumed that the CGT40 has already reached further advanced stages than what is presented in the slides above.

And as mentioned previously - China is becoming the 3rd country in the world to independently develop and produce 40MW-class marine gas turbine engines.

I'm not surprised that they're at this stage of development, but I am surprised that they're allowing this to be conveyed to us in a relatively official capacity.

China's first electronic control system for low-speed marine diesel has obtained type approval. The system was developed by CSIC specifically for the 6EX340 diesel engine.

SXD6L40/52G medium-speed LNG engine developed by CSSC has passed performance appraisals. The engine has the largest cylinder diameter (400mm-class) and the largest single-cylinder power rating (605kW) of its type developed in China. It meets Tier-III low emission standards, and its core components have a design life exceeding 32,000 hours.

The development of the two gas turbine engine models began back in 2016. There are three variants for the CGT30 and two variants for the CGT40 respectively:

CGT30-M: Ship-use (marine propulsion)
CGT30-D: Mechanical drive (industrial)
CGT30-E: Power generation (electricity)

CGT40-M: Ship-use (marine propulsion)
CGT40-E: Power generation (electricity)
