Related to the above post - According to @勤劳朴实罗素历 and @smtft on Weibo, the 712th Institute has delivered two electric (drive) motor systems to Huludao and another two to Jiangnan. The electric drive motor systems for both Huludao and Jiangnan are very likely to be of different classes/categories.

Dianji just refers to electric motor or generator as a whole.

diesel subs and other ships would also require electric motor.

so that doesn’t say much about what jiangnan is producing.

it makes more sense for huludao that the electric motor system is used for nuclear subs.

of course, that could also be 093b since those are actually being produced and launched now.

I saw this video about 江苏迈吉易威 producing these great propulsion systems and then I realized their clients are mainly military users so went to their website.

主要产品为集成化电动轮(轮毂电机系统)、分布式航空电推进系统、水下电推进系统、整合式动力单元(IPU系统)。业务涵盖空中飞行器、地面车辆以及水面/水下航行器。
and if you look at their main webpage

it has underwater electric propulsion system and surface ship propulsion system prominently displayed.

But what's interesting to me is just how compact they've gotten their electric drivetrain and how much power that delivers. It's unclear to me what marine vessel they may be powering, but what they showed here integrates reduction gear and thermal management system in such a tight package and is 900V. This could be huge in submarines and UUVs and things like that where space is at a real premium.

It is for special purpose vehicle. I imagine the electrical driven missile TEL would be using something like this. Also the drivetrain is only rated at 4.5kNm while Type 076's drive shaft is 1700kNm for a reference. Any marine drive shaft would need hundreds kNm.

I also guess that the tonnage (in this case, 9 tonnes) is the load capacity of the drive axis.

you are missing the point here. This is just an example of what it has done for ground vehicles.

It has products for other segment as shown on its website. It's unclear if what it produces for aerial vehicles or vessels are even posted on its website.

The point is that it says it produces products for those surface and underwater vessels. It's unclear what those vessels are. But for underwater, there really isn't a lot of non-military underwater vessels that need advanced electric propulsion.

So if we look at what they've done here with their product in terms of compact size, one can imagine just how much advancement has been made in making electric core components more powerful and more compact for submarines and UUVs.

And of course, if we actually have a nuclear electric sub, then it would need an even more powerful electric Drivetrain. That has significant implication if you can remove huge mechanical section, shaft, transmission, reduction gear with a compact electric drivetrain with integrated reduction gear that can drive propeller.
