There won't be 30-40 years left due to incoming damage done as the direct result of this election. There will be 3-4 years left for unification after the just-elected toxic executive branch escalates their provocations 10 times over under the orders of the US.

And yes DPP is losing votes, but it's quite normal in any of the so-called democracies for leading parties to simply lose more votes the longer they are in power, it's called voter fatigue or something like that. You probably live in the EU, so you should know this.

Judging from that, DPP is holding quite strong for their 3rd term, 7% lead over the second-placed party, after this many years. Only the KMT in the past century had such continuity in power in Taiwan's history right after their "founding".

There is literally ZERO hope for peaceful reunification, now, or 200 years in the future, as long as the US/CIA/DPP holds all the Taiwanese media, education system, the election process, political establishment, etc. They simply can brainwash people and do political machinations however they like to achieve whatever results they like. The Taiwan (and US) question will be resolved within 3-4 years.

I don't see the Taiwan issue being resolved in 3-4 years.

I think it has finally gotten through to the upper echelons of the Taiwanese government that they will be blockaded and would lose a war.

Such a conclusion will become more widespread amongst the population with time. At the moment, the average Taiwanese person thinks the US can easily save them. So the choice is to be become angry or begrudgingly accept this reality.

And as time goes on, it will be increasingly hard to avoid Chinese influences.

From which American and who's publication? Can you provide the author and publication behind the paper? We have to be sure we're not inadvertently posting links that are actually Trojan horse for malwares etc. We trust people here enough that we maybe able to drop our guards down.
For some reason I was stupid enough to click on the link. To save everyone the hassle, it is a stupid 2 page handout that is less info than what chatgpt or wikipedia can provide. Not sure why it is worth posting on this thread.

This is how Ukraine war matters. its cliched but the assertion that America's failure to save Zelensky may be seen as a harbinger of how Taiwan unfolds. no matter the rhetoric of how important it is to intervene, when it comes to decision time one will always have second thoughts about starting a fight against another nuclear power, when that potential opponent is fighting for something for which it is willing to give everything.

, who has been heading the foreign ministry’s press department, has been promoted to vice-minister, Beijing announced on Monday.

After her promotion Hua, 54, who has been a foreign ministry spokesperson since 2012, is the youngest of the five foreign vice-ministers and the only woman among them.

She was promoted to assistant foreign minister and the director general of the ministry’s press department in 2021. According to the foreign ministry website, she still leads the press department, although it is not clear whether she will retain this position following her promotion.

Hua is seen to embody China’s Wolf Warrior diplomacy, particularly in light of her comments during the Covid-19 pandemic, including calling on the US to open up its lab in Fort Detrick, Maryland, for investigation while the administration of then US president Donald Trump accused a lab in Wuhan, China of being the origin of the virus.

to put forth its own narrative, and has around 2.5 million followers on the platform.

On X, she often blasts Western officials over their accusations and criticism against China. In 2020, she exchanged a series of tweets with then-US State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus, rebuking the American’s criticism that China’s Covid-19 policies lacked transparency.

As US-China relations have worsened in recent years, Hua has often been seen attacking US policies, including over the Israel-Gaza war. Last month, she posted several photos and video screenshots criticising what appeared to be a US police crackdown on large-scale campus protests against US support for Israel.
In one post that appeared to show video of police arrests, she asked, “remember how US officials reacted when these protests happened elsewhere”.

She has often accused the US of having a “double standard”, comparing the US Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, with the storming of Legislative Council in Hong Kong in 2019 – and questioning why the US called the protesters on Capitol Hill “rioters” but those in Hong Kong were deemed “democratic heroes”.

She has also accused the US of using the alleged “overcapacity” issue as “a new narrative trap against” China, as Washington and its allies ramp up measures in targeting “excessive” Chinese products they say are flooding the global market.

Hua joined the foreign ministry in 1992 and had held several diplomatic roles, serving as counsellor in the department of European affairs in 2010. Her overseas stints included a significant term at the Chinese Mission to the European Union in Brussels.
She is married with one daughter.

Nice work, i still remember her iconic tweet back in 2020 when the Trump anti China propaganda war was in full swing: "I can't breathe".

On a similar vein, i wonder what happened to Zhao Lijian, the man was similar to Hua in being outspoken against anglo western hypocrisy and was the iconic 'Wolf Warrior'.

Zhao Lijian was promoted to deputy head of department that manages oceanic affairs at MFA. It's a promotion but the new role is less public facing so he's not as visible anymore.

Is Wang Yi just going to retain and hold a dual role position instead of actually handing the duty of Foreign Minister to another capable person? What's the status on his current dual capacity?
