The Shanghai lockdown was a massive failure, but don't we want people who experiment with new policies and try to find better ways of dealing with problems? If the smart contact tracing and smaller quarantines had succeeded in Shanghai, we'd be celebrating Li as a hero. You have to take risks, if you take no risk at all there'll be no success. People willing to be bold and take risks are exactly the ones China needs.

The more I think about it, the better Li looks. Purging someone for a single mistake is how Europe lost all its good politicians. Now it's being led by people who avoid bold, risky decisions at all cost.
The Shanghai lockdown was a success. It happened because of the outdated zero-covid policy. Most people in the world have not contracted the seasonal flu for 2.5 years, because of face masks and social distancing. But once opened up, people will then have to face the flu again. Similarly for covid, the sooner the population get accustomed to covid the better. As 95% of Chinese people have never contracted covid, this will be a challenge, as China opens up within a few years.

All in all, Xi stacking the PSC will make US really want to block CN more. Brand Xi must not allowed to win at any cost. Because if any @FairAndUnbiased huge win goal achieved not only neutral countries tries to copy China Political brand, it will follow Xi's centralizing characteristic which libs utterly despise.

So China should make decisions on its political future to gain approval and validation from the US?

Do you seriously think if China elected a bunch of pro-US liberals that it would stop its hostility towards China?

What kind of reforms do you guys think Xi is going to push through now that there is virtually no opposition?

I mean, now that he has complete control, what is he going to do with it?

He doesn’t seem to be the power hungry type to just go for power for the sake of power. Actually he always seems very down to earth, like during his visit to Iowa, or during his interactions with common people. The man has a vision for China, “the great rejuvenation”, but how is he going to achieve it is the question.

So far he successfully reformed the military completely, and he stomped out grass root corruption. What next?

I'm not making a recommendation here, just observation.

Biden seems more unhinged than Trump is because he's vixated on value.

Did you know the only time I ever saw Biden getting furious was when he talked about democracy?

He's never furious talking about Trump, 6th Jan, Covid, mass shooting, infrastructure, roe v wade, etc. Only about democracy.

when Xi has full power... his next goal is to unify Taiwan by 2027... he is the servant of China and Chinese... China will be glad for the policy of "serving the people" people "take "people as the root"

he doesn't care about U.S. policy as much as U.S. think tanks think it...

1. Technology self-sufficiency in critical sectors for technological security.
2. Accelerate military build up including expanding nuclear arsenal for national security.
3. Boost domestic consumption for economic security.
4. Expand domestic capital market financing for financial security.
4. Digital yuan use expanded to all of China for financial security.
5. Deflating property sector
6. Boosting birth rates.
