No. The system shown in the photos is a grenade machine gun. That is a belt feed selective / automatic grenade launcher.

It looks heavy, I am guessing it takes a 3 man team to operate, 4 if they want extra ammo.

Looks like it might also offer Vehicle mounting. the muzzle makes me think it's based on a evolution of the Type 87. If I was to make a Assumption I would pin this as a mounted verison, with the older units being for infantry.

It's mounted vehicle alright, unless the PLA is planning to add a grenadier squadron to the platoon structure.

Mk19 is heavy too...think they got around the idea that AGL has to be this size for sustained firepower.

I am not Sure "Sniper" Is the best Translation. The mission of this system is definitely precision target engagement at range but the mission of a sniper is not just shooting form a distance. it's also signature mitigation. once you fire this thing every one is going to know it.

True, but could it possibly be used on light armor vehicles or a convoy of military trucks on the road? Using against infantry units would definitely exposing the shooter.
Now as an infantry unit weapon it can give the grenadier a major boost in fire power and flexibility with the assault team and as well as fire support team.

Its to light in my opinion for mounted use so infantry units is my bet. I am thinking a fire support weapon.
