Reading the book, it's pretty clear that in a lot of the ways, the Trisolarians are stand-ins for the Americans; increasingly so now that America has pretty much explicitly stated they would like to halt Chinese scientific progress, at least in select areas.

I feel dumb for not realizing this earlier, but now that you've stated it, it makes perfect sense. The Trisolarians are far more advanced than humans, but they fear human advancement will outstrip them, so they send in something to halt human scientific progress.

Earth is riddled with human sympathizers of the Trisolarians, who are convinced that the extra-terrestrials will save us from ourselves. The leader of these sympathizers is a woman who suffered during the Cultural Revolution (I guess 6/4 would have been too obvious?).

I just watched Norang: Deadly sea. The visual depiction of the Ming navy was pretty awesome but man they did my man Chen Lin dirty.

I feel like a Chinese made movie about the Imjin War based on Li Rusong would be pretty epic. Ming Dynasty soldiers vs Ashigarus and Samurais would be quite the great to see on screen.

I would personally start the film with depictions of Hideyoshi sending off the massive Japanese invasion fleet, narrated voice over summaries of Japanese early conquest, then to emperor receiving news of Zu Chengxun and Shi Rus defeat, to Emperor declaring Korean rescue, to Li Rusong taking command of 30000 Ming Troops, to Li Rusong's scouts and then the liberation of Pyongyang.

Sequel can be the battle of Byeokjegwan and the liberation of Hanyang.

Final movie should be about Chen Lin and Yi Sun Shin.
