That might be your take, but the authors, Viven Chen and Viva Lee, probably have contacts in China (HK and Taiwan are part of China) and might know many more less well known actors and actresses. Your right about Mulan being a young woman, but Hollywood has a tradition of taking license with historical materials. That's why it's Showbiz.

Just started watching "In the name of the people," (currently on EP5) and it's very well done and highly entertaining. It's also improving my conversational Mandarin Chinese too, so a win-win. I hope to see it make it to US television someday.

It is for the Taiwan corrupt regime officials as well. Knowing a lot of them think by participating a certain kind of religious institution will some how magically exempt them from sin.

There is not a single country that is free from corruption. This show, its popularity, and official support for it is a great indicator of the Chinese government's promotion of the ideal of clean governance across Chinese society.
