as mentioned here, 3rd Mi-26 delivered to China. I wonder why they don't just order like 8 and get it over with. It's clear that they have a requirement for Mi-26 until the domestic heavy helo project completes.

Maybe they don't want the Russian's catching the blood in the water and pull a Il-76/Il-78 stunt? (Raising price, delaying production)

Better to order incrementally.

AC311 making first flight from Tianjin on the 8th of November. It's basically Z-11. Unfortunately, they still have not moved onto any new design, nor does it look like they are going to. According to this, Z-15 will be given the designation AC352.

  这是中航工业集团与天津市共建直升机产业基地总装民用直升机的首飞,标志着天津直升机产业从无到有的跨越,以及中航工业以天津为核心的中国直升机产业布局初步形成,也标志着我国AC系列民用直升机产品开发又迈上了新的台阶,继国产大型民用直升机AC313首飞成功后,不足8个月又研制成功了AC311轻型多用途直升机。

  AC311直升机是一型具有国际先进水平的2吨级轻型多用途直升机,可广泛应用于飞行训练、人员运输、公安执法、通信指挥、航拍摄影、医疗救护、电力巡线、护林防火、飞播灭虫等任务。

  据介绍,目前中国直升机工业已经建立了系统的研发、试验、生产和服务体系,形成了通过自主研制和国际合作,从1吨级到13吨级较为完整的民用直升机产品谱系,累计交付上千架直升机,并正在研制AC352(直十五)等新一代民用直升机产品。

  去年5月8日开工建设的中航直升机天津基地将以轻型、中型和重型民用直升机型号为主体,建立覆盖直升机产品顶层研发、总成、销售、客户支持及通航运营的完整产业链体系,打造具有国际竞争力的中国直升机产业核心聚集基地。天津总装线边建设边生产,今年可向用户交付2架直升机,明年进入小批量生产阶段。(

Z-15s as ASW choppers would work well on ships like frigates, so larger choppers can work on larger ships like destroyers or LHDs.

You ideally want as big as a helicopter as you can get onto your platforms. Size has a quality all its own, especially in endurance and payload. Bigger helicopters mean more time aloft, and of course, more sensors and storage space. On the USN's SH-60R, there is very little room inside the helicopter because they tried to cram it full of sensors and computers. A larger helicopter like the EH-101 or something similar allows one to carry the required sensors, plus say, a couple of personnel that you probably would not be able to carry in the first place without having to strip out equipment.

I'd expect the Chinese successor to the S-70 and AS532 to fulfill that role at some point.

Some photos from the plant in Tianjin of AC-301 assembly line. We also have an assembly instruction and all of the helicopters in AC series. AC301 basically is just Z-11 from what I can see. AC-311 is also like Z-11 (2 ton + 1 turboshaft engine), but fuselage is a little different. AC-310 looks like S-300C that China is building. AC-312 is Z-9. AC-352 is Z-15. AC-313 is Z-8.

said that AC-313 got 5 initial domestic orders after its first flight. And then, followed that by getting 32 export orders from south east Asian, west Asian, African and South American countries.

China is developing the 1-ton AC-310, 2 ton AC-301A, 6-ton AC-352 and 13-ton AC-313.

The benefits of this new engine could also possibly be applied to other designs as well as improving Mi-17 performance.
