why would you fly at sea level tho? Regardless it also exceeds the F119 by max absolute thrust according to wikipedia. The F135 is higher, but only by a bit while being much worse in TWR
Of course. But considering it's the Chinese, who are known (well, kinda, the informed would know) for making engines with ridiculously good thrust curves, I'm not exactly concerned.
Well to be honest, the f-119 package includes a gigantic and unwieldy thrust vectoring nozzle, so the twr is not as bad as it seems. Without it twr is still around 9+ i believe.
Nowadays twr is far from the main objective of designing engines actually, it used to be important because jet engines had a lot of dead weight, but now engines are a lot lighter than the fuel tank, so fuel efficiency is even more important. Twr 10+ is more than enough and probably won't be improved greatly in the next few decades.
No. Using GJB standards it's mid/mid-high-8s with a conventional convergent-divergent nozzle I believe.
WS-35 and QC500 is a thing it seems.
He just said that the existence of the QC500 gas turnine engine is confirmed, not whether the QC500 will be used on future PLAN warships. Though you should post this in the Chinese marine engine thread as well, for the record.
