J-11BS WS-10A Engine Climb !!.jpg

;)

Picture like this makes me doubt J-20's engine is AL-31FM.

If WS-10 engine have blue flames as well, then there is a very high probability that J-20 is currently using WS-10 engine as well. Most likely an upgraded WS-10 engine !!

This might also explain why China do not buy Su-35, because they already have engine comparable to 117S, the only thing 117S has left is its TVC technology, which China do not have at the moment.

The 2014 PLAAF golden Helmet award:

Six Pilots:

2 SU30MKK Pilots:颜峰,王立

1 J8F Pilots:陈鸿程

1 J10 Pilots:肖立军

1 J-11B with WS-10A engine :李海明

1 J-11B with AL-31F:李凌

Take note that it is the first time a J-11B fighter with WS-10A engine wining the golden helmet arward !! This proves that WS-10A has achieved high reliability and can finally match the AL-31FN, although it is still not on the same level as the 117S, but it is getting there !

or it could mean that J-11B fighters with FWS-10 were grouped with other J-11B fighters with FWS-10 just like J-8F was probably grouped with other J-8F.

A little bit on this based on the rumblings of Chinese bbs, it seems like both FWS-10 and AL-31F have strong points vs each other. It's also possible that flanker can't fully utilize the strong points of FWS-10.

The most important point is that they are all using FWS-10 now. You need to bring up reliability on it before anything else.

I haven't been digging around bbses lately. Wanna summarize the strong points?

I can't remember off the topic of my head and I'm just putting out there as rumours since I don't know how legitimate they are.

Not sure but reportedly this image shows the Il-76LL engine testbed on 29.10.2014 after the maiden flight with the WS-18.

It is also said that the development tests of this D-30KP-2 "version"/ development was successfully concluded on 06.12.201 and that batch production will start soon.
