Re: WS-15 Thread

We've been using this thread as our engine thread since the start of this forum. Please continue to do so.

Moderator, why not we change the title to Chinese engine thread? I think the title of WS-10A will led to more confusion when one wants to discuss a few variety of Chinese engine in future. And I think it will be easier for new comer to understand or find the thread they wants to know if we change the title...

Very official. But from what I understood, it was an internal-exhibition for the military and high-ranking govt people only in 2010 IIRC. I believe this is where the 1st J-10B AESA images also appeared. Maya (a member here) said the high altitude core testing was completed in 2009, and it would take about 10 years until WS-15 sees mass production. Here are 2 more images -

Supposed to be early ground based core testing.

Re: WS-15 Thread

maya, aliasmaya was a resident leaker of PRC engine developments for quite sometime. He was pretty consistent. But I haven't seen him anywhere for sometime. I hope he was not invited for tea.
Given the radio silence, and the consistency of his visits to this thread before...I can only imagine that he was :/

If this is true than it means that it will enter production in about 2019. No surprise that we havent seen it yet. It could be years before we see it.

WS-15 is the one of the most complex, most powerful turbofans ever done by the PRC. It is going to take time. I guess you might see a prototype flying with WS-15 2016/2017 on-wards, but when it come to mass production, thats another matter.

So in the mean time it'll be an engine from MMPP-Salut and may be there is another stop-gap measure engine on the sideline by CAC.
