Says the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China which most people would take a bucket of salt with the results they announce.

Not very insuring.LoL
I believe that when you said "most people", it actually means "most people with the same mindset of me". The two are very far from each other like sky and earth. Whether that portion of people is the most (of what?) is another question. I think you should be way more modest when speaking on behalf of anybody other than yourself.

let me setup "madman consulting co." and publish a graph showing 100% employment rate of myself for decades and call that a trustworthy representation of the country where I live (a western European country).

Will someone put a bucket of salt in my data? I don't know.

Cheers.:D

The people who whine about how people don't immediately and blindly fall in-line of course see it as an insult. I especially love how during the Ukraine conflict some of the anti-Russia faction in here agreed that any news site that reported the Russian side of things be banned in this forum. Yeah I guess daring to present another perspective is an insult just like I come across people all the time that think anyone who challenges their opinion is violating their free speech. It's always the ones that think they're for free speech and human rights, therefore they're the good guys, that are always trying to take them away from others. Anyone who dares present a counterargument is being unfairly assaulted. Hitler too believed in his own rights and for others who thought just like him but not for anyone else. Remember that newbie a while ago that said he was going to report this board to US authorities because he saw it as too pro-Chinese in a Chinese military-centered forum. LOL!!!!

LOL, really? Does that post still exist? I'd love to see it for myself!

Anyway, your post reminds me of a saying about extremists. Extremists are not dangerous because of their own views, they are dangerous because they can't tolerate other people's views.

I believe Popeye or someone else deleted it. If I recall correctly he didn't like also how this board was on an American server.

Samurai's posts are pretty good when it goes to military matters. He's well informed, knows what he's talking about (90% of the time at least ;)). The same can't be said about many users who post here (usually on on this sub-forum or about PRC's disputes with it's neighbours) on the other hand. There's not much value in their knowledge of military aspects. I can post something like this here

unemployment.png

It's not my bias but I will be damned as 'anti-Chinese' and whatever else for not praising PRC as a country which, as we all know, doesn't have any problems or flaws... There's no room for discussion about problems because it will immediately result in personal insults.

EOT for know.
That chart measures two different things. One is unemployment and the other is underemployment.

Unemployed means you don't have a job.

Underemployed means you do a job that's below your qualifications.

So the chart is useless and is another piece of manipulation by the media.

Since you neglected to do so, I will post the article from which you ripped the graph:

Upon reading the article, we immediately see a glaring problem: how is that "hidden unemployment" rate calculated? What was their methodology? What was their data?

The article offers a small clue:
Fathom's data shows that while mass layoffs haven't materialized, the number of people not working at full capacity or hours has increased.

People spending less time at work = hidden unemployment? If that's the basis of their figures, then it's complete bollocks.

Not even. The article makes no mention of their methodology, but if it is simply based on work-hours (which the article alludes to), then a waitress who used to work 12-hour days but has now found a 9-5 job as a secretary would actually be 33% less employed, LOL!

Yes. Less productivity. USSR model of work. Have you heard about cases like this:

I bet 'zombie factories' are 'Western propaganda'... And those photos are taken outside of China... The model of rural area people influx into the big cities had run out probably. I bet that only a handful of posters in this thread know the term 'Beijing consensus' (just search wiki!). Now Chinese have to switch from that into something else. What's the plan to counter this situation? No likes under this post I assume...

Thanks for appreciation. CLassic reply when you don't have anything to say on the matter and you're using personal arguments just like wrote earlier...

It's a ridiculous measure because any increase in productivity would also be counted as increasing this "hidden unemployment". People spending less time working doesn't mean they're less employed!

I brought up the article because you just posted a graph without any explanation of what it is supposed to measure.
