westerners are genuinely stupid and don't understand basic economic policy, low interests are used to combat deflation lol

This is textbook example of economic idiocy.

Bond yields are nominal - for all the people who like to talk about real GDP growth you should also understand that the real interest rate is not actually low - but actually getting higher as deflation sinks in. That is why bond yields are falling through the floor.

So either quote everything in nominal terms, or quote everything in real terms.

Inflation in China was 2.9% in 2019 but close to 0 in the last couple of years, so the difference in growth between 2019 and now is partly due to inflation being higher in 2019
Is it not a bad thing for private companies if inflation remains zero?

I know this is propaganda, but at least Friedman still bothers to actually visit China and thus has a clear picture of what kind of opponent Trump is up against, amidst all these articles saying that he will be going into Trade War 2.0 holding all the aces because of China's "slowdown" or whatever.

First half of the srticles tells what he see and hear in China. Second half shows what he still believed in Western Multi-media's negative narrative reportings on China. One of many funny parts that he wrote - "Which is why my hat is off to Secretary of State Antony Blinken for showing China the way forward".

LOL!

Just read it.. curious who supplied him w people to eat dinner with/interview while in CN... his last line:

"The demand from Chinese consumers is there. I’d say it’s time for China’s leaders to let their people have more of the supply. It would be good for both our countries."

I thought they dont like oversupplies? Wont that mean they have oversupplies that they want to sell to CN consumers?
He wants CN to allow "taylor swift concerts" etc? While allow US to tariff CN goods? Isnt it kinda 1 sided tho? He also seem suggested to graduate more nurses than engineers...

Yeah lots of those typical antiCN phrases every now and then in the article.. but has some more realistic lines than other articles..

Be realistic, a country with well over a billion citizens has plenty of struggling individuals no matter how the overall picture looks. Especially when you consider how the pain over the past few years has disproportionately affected coastal property owners—the same people who enjoyed wild success over the past few decades, who grew very rich and influential, who have plenty of domestic and foreign connections to amplify their complaints at every level. Those people are real, and they are losing. But the country as a whole is not.

It is anti-Chinese bullsh1t.

China doesn't supply its people? China's biggest advantage in exports is its economy of scale in the Chinese domestic market!

That fucker is bald-face telling us that Chinese people are not consuming when it buys twice the amount of cars as the US and consumes twice the electricity with a nominal per capita income a fifth of that of the US.

China overconsumes for its income level by a wide margin.

He basically wants tariffs on China and wants China to stop investing in R&D and manufacturing so Chinese people can consume Western (not Chinese) culture like fucking Taylor Swift. To hell with that advice.

China needs to manufacture everything because the US and its allies will embargo whatever China cannot produce.
