Although I've been trying to google this, can you perhaps pinpoint towards what law change I should be looking for @tokenanalyst ? I've been trying to find it, but Google searches can sometime be hit and miss, plus I obviously don't speak Chinese.
China Data Security Law, they implemented in 2021 basically a response to the ever growing problem of US export controls, sanctions and espionage you can get real jail time for this, is no joke.

Some people may read all of this and not correctly interpret what is being said. Also, whoever you quoted earlier seems to be having some sort of sexual desire for the word "deflation."

This is perfectly true, but it's old news. For example, Michael Pettis has been repeating the same thing for decades and while he runs into problems with micro-level solutions, his grasp of the macro-level situation is broadly correct—internal structural forces rather than individual subsidies/policies are what drives the trade balance.
