idk about that, i have read plenty of sob stories abt gambling addicts really having it bad. I mean in a losing life savings, heavily in debt, chased by loansharks, wife divorcing him, children and relatives disowning him, life in tatters kinda bad. Not fun at all. The thing is with these people even after losing everything, if you give them a chance to gamble again, they would still jump at it and lose more money again.

There may be a way to disrupt the dopamine pathways involved in gambling addiction, but if you're not careful, you'll get parkinsons along with it :D

Actually, what I meant was a pill to complete the gambling satisfaction pathways, without having to go to the casino. A pill that may cost the chronic gambler 1 dollar instead of his life savings in just one night of gambling frenzy.

That's the thing, at least you're able to control your nervous systems, considering all the bad consequences of the gambling addiction.

what do you think of it? I think that any foreign company caught implanting spyware in the US would get banned from the country.

If huawei, ZTE or any other company, are found to be involved in spyware, it would mean their end. No one would touch any product from them anymore.

What happens if they don't find anything? They're going bury it just to keep the paranoia going.

Sounds like the counterfeit military parts story was a cover and excuse for doing what was charged of the Chinese doing to internet companies like Google and Yahoo. The counterfeit parts story is actually more gravely serious than it's being made out to be if were true by their accounts of what happened.

US being paranoid and taking said paranoia to a slightly higher level?

Who knows.

You mean... cocaine? I don't know, but i think those reward pathways are all dopamine driven, so it'd be hard to target a particular pathway with a chemical. If you don't mind some side effects, maybe present day dopamine agonists or reuptake inhibitors may do something useful for gambling addiction (or maybe inhibitors would be more appropriate, dunno).

I've read about spyware and various viruses being found in many electronic products before, for quite a few years now. I also know there have been cases of porn being accidentally distributed in brand new products.

That's an obvious conspiracy too.

No, definitely not something dangerously addictive like cocaine. I never hear of someone driving dangerously because of a "gambling-induced high" :p but I'm sure researchers will not work towards that, but towards something that's socially accepted as "normal". I was half joking when I made the comments but you never know what they'll come up with. :D

Things can get a bit complicated. Anyone with enough technical background can plant the spyware into those equipment, especially when those equipments are known to use commercially available electronic components. Could be an inside job or could be someone tampers with the equipment/products that have already left the factory.
