Curious, why especially the woman?

I heard about the couple before but not prominently. Just thought they are another property tycoons. But the names became more notorious after the Harvard donation. There was a mixed reaction online in that some thought it's their money they can do wat they like but certainly it doesn't look good on them.

Were there any other scandals? OK i read the other posts. Ignore me.

I don't agree with some people's thinking that it was ok to donate to Harvard. As said before by others, they were using money earned from the local people to donate to a far richer country that was hell-bent on submitting China when there were so many poor people in need of financial support for their education. It was a big sum of money, not a few hundred thousand and they did not even graduate from there. The Chinese government had been too nice to them and should have tightened the screws on them immediately after their unpatriotic deed.

Careful there. One slip of hand and you go into cultural revolution 2.0. Sometimes leaving one eye open is best for minor misconducts.

A simple solution is to tax foreign donations at 75%

they have been preparing their exit for years, winding down their business in China and investing the proceeds in the US. while stingy with charity in China, they are generous philanthropists in the US. it's not hard to get a property tycoon for the government, scandals and frauds plenty, especially in their early years.

I see. T hanks. Yeah China should prevent them from taking their profits earned in China and from the Chinese people to benefit the west.

Wat about wang shi, the other property tycoon? sometime I hear about in the news but mostly just useless entertainment related. Any scandal on him?
