CHONGQING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Adam Mahmood's story in search of "Ren," a traditional Chinese philosophy of benevolence advocated by ancient Chinese educator and philosopher Confucius, begins in the hustle and bustle of Chongqing, a southwestern Chinese metropolis.
Mahmood was one of the dozens of foreign filmmakers who participated in a documentary-making activity held by Southwest University recently. The activity aims to help young directors experience the charm of China's excellent traditional culture. What Mahmood focused on during the trip to Chongqing is "Ren," a key idea in the thoughts of Confucius.
"Prior to this journey, I have learned a little about the Chinese traditional culture of 'Ren,'" said Mahmood, the 23-year-old British national.

CHONGQING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Many bridges of southwest China's Chongqing Municipality are a popular topic for photography on TikTok. They are shown illuminated at night or bearing trains amid clouds of dreamy mist, winning numerous thumbs-ups from netizens.
Now lovers of the famous structures have more to celebrate, thanks to a citywide campaign to improve the spaces beneath them, as well as the miles of riverbank that run through the city.
Also known as the "Bridge Capital of China," Chongqing boasts over 10,000 bridges of all kinds. However, the areas beneath them are often neglected, either planted with bushes or used as parking lots. In many cases, the space is simply unused.
