The state of Chu was established during the pre-Qin period (before 221 BC). With a history spanning over 800 years, the state of Chu had its capital in Jingzhou (known as Jiangling in ancient times) for more than 400 years. Jingzhou is therefore known as the cradle of the Chu culture.

The Chu people reached high levels of skill in fields such as bronze smelting and silk weaving, and made great achievements in literature and arts.





During the festival, which will continue until mid-April, a series of activities such as exhibitions and art shows will be held featuring Chu history and culture, and three Chu culture travel routes will be launched.

The Shanghai History Museum is showcasing its most treasured paintings and calligraphy works, which illustrate the distinctive Shanghai style that prospered from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s.

All the Rivers Run Into the Sea will run from March 31 to May 28, presenting altogether 95 sets of artworks, including four borrowed pieces from Zhejiang Museum, four from Anhui Museum and six from Nanjing Museum of Jiangsu province.

Sixty-four sets of the artworks are on their first public showing, according to Zhou Qunhua, director of the Shanghai History Museum. "This is the latest fruit of collaboration among the museum community members in the Yangtze River Delta."

Domestic theme park operator Overseas Chinese Town reports tourist attendance over the first three months at its Happy Valley recreational operations nationwide recovered to 175 percent as compared with the same period in 2019, with revenue in the same period bouncing back to 184 percent.

The rebound reflects the public's strong desire for happy life and a positive sign of tourism consumption upgrade, according to the OCT authorities.

This year marked the 25th anniversary of the Happy Valley operations and the theme parks have received more than 250 million traveler visits over the years.

One of the videos featured on Long Yan's account on the short-video platform Douyin is a tour through the stunning natural landscape and folk customs of Guizhou province.

The video blogger, who is in his 30s, has produced more than 170 such videos, unveiling the unique charm of destinations in the southwest of the country, such as the elastic azalea blossoms in various shades of red in the ethnic Yi quarter of Bijie city, the otherworldly karst rock forms of Zhijin Cave and the residents of Anshun city, who still wear the ancient, wide-sleeved blue robes of their ancestors.
