Re: Chinese Daily Photos, Videos & News of 2012!!!

In contrast to all the above pictures of glitz and modernity, I'd like to offer a view of China that is often talked about, but rarely understood in its profoundness.

This is part of a series featuring the various culinary delights of China. What struck me most in this episode is the sheer "primitiveness" of these farming communities. You can't see a single indication of 21st century technology in their society. It's doubtful if they even have electricity at home.

Then you realize that this isn't just one, isolated example, like a south-american indian tribe left alone for their cultural protection.

No, these kinds of "primitive" communities are the norm in enormous swathes of interior China. Once you realize this, then you are beginning to understand the gigantic and unique challenges faced with governing a country where such contrast exists.

Solarz.. The photos is what is available at yahoo.com. So that's what I post.they have excellent photos these days..IMO. the photos are very large 1400x1000. I cannot find that size photo on a English language Chinese site. many times at the English language Chinese sites they post very average photos of exhibitions, the weather, road openings, and politicians shaking hands. Their cultural photos are very interesting. I fell I post a good variety of photos. Look at the entire thread. I'm sure you shall find a good variety.

Does anyone else have the same view as solarz? Too much glitz??? let me know. Don't worry I don't bite.. I may hit you with a light sabre!:p

I'll see what I can find. These are the choices today at
