When it comes to *anything*, a lot of countries are using China to leverage better terms from the US.
even more interesting to know is, what does „an agreement was signed“?
IMO does not sound like a contract was signed.
Doesn’t matter. What’s important is to showcase the technology and capabilities and plant the seeds within the hearts and minds of young officers.
Completely rational behavior which should come as a surprise to nobody, least of all Beijing. And giving more leverage to smaller countries still benefits Chinese interests indirectly, by weakening US leverage to coerce other countries to abide by US political interests. Like sanctions, for instance.

Seems like the Chinese GM said "Cooperation agreement" was signed between Egypt and China on advanced fighter jets. Not a contract for buying specific model.
And the youtube video heading google translate just meant "President Sisi signs the register of the Chinese pavilion at the Egypt Air and Space Exhibition".

It has 34 WingLoong-1 UCAV, also largest export customer, used in live action
L-15 is currently in competition for Egypt's LiFT competition
China and Egypt signed advanced fighter jet cooperation on Aug 19th. Chinese side did not mention the aircraft type. So choices could be J-10C or J-35
also note is that they showcased Y-20 to Egypt. So I think there is some interest in Y-20 in Egypt and the rest of Middle East.
