It also makes it easily sanctionable

It's only half.
"Zhou Guirong, the deputy chief designer of the C919, said Thursday that the overall localization rate of C919 aircraft can reach over 50 percent, meaning more than half of its components are sourced from domestic enterprises and joint ventures between domestic and foreign companies."

Think you’re confusing where the company is from with where the parts are produced.

To reiterate again, any Chinese/Russian project dependent on Western suppliers was/is a walking zombie anyway (looking at you, C919). Current developments give this project its first sign of genuine life -- if it's continued without Western suppliers.

Lol. This is punditry, not an announcement.
It would also have been better to reference the original article instead of a Twitter post linking to it.

If sanctions on Russian made aviation components hurt the possibilities of CR929 in international market then Russia will just make the carbon composite wing manufacture facility in China proper instead of shipping the wings from the Russian Far East. In fact the Russian aviation industry always had that as an option although they would have preferred to keep some jobs inside Russia. Especially in poorly developed Russian Fast East territory.

The meat of the aviation market has always been in the 737/A320 range. Larger airplanes are a small fraction of the aviation segment.

Last but not least, this news is basically amplifying a report by a Rand Corporation i.e. US think tank analyst.

Oh? You want to reiterate? Yet again?

But Why?

We heard you the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th time.

Do me a favor: stick with your political threads.

These aren't 11 posts making the same point, they are just a collection of posts discussing various factors that happen to be related to Western sanctions and the supply chain, so what? It's a central fact of China's civilian aviation industry... and it will continue to be so for the foreseeable future.

Also the SCMP story is discussing the same issue. Get used to this kind of discussion because it'll continue to be relevant, although I think I've made my point.
