Yes.

However my point was to clarify that the LS-6 ER is not the first "powered PGM" we've seen on offer, because FT-12 is was first (rocket propelled is still very much powered).

what would be your estimation on the range of this powered version - assuming it is dropped at 8km altitude

i think an unpowered glider from that altitude would have maybe 40km range

So that's the JDAM-ER version.

@Blitzo

No, "powered JDAM" is the name of a long-range version of JDAM developed by Boeing:

And JDAM-ER does not has engine:
"Boeing is currently developing and testing a JDAM Extended Range or JDAM ER variant, which incorporates a low-cost wing and extends the JDAM standoff range to more than 40 miles (64 km). The Royal Australian Air Force became Boeing's first JDAM ER customer in 2011. On March 13, 2013, Boeing announced the selection of Australia-based Ferra Engineering to build wing kits for the JDAM ER."

Right, I think this is confusion over terminology.

I thought you were referring to a powered JDAM as in a JDAM-like PGM with a propulsion unit in general, rather than a specific equivalent to the Boeing product of the same name.

In the case of the LS-6 with the jet propulsion, it seems that they are calling it simply "LS-6 extended range" because we can see the words "extended range" on the rear side of the bomb just in front of the tailmount.

Another air-launched ballistic missile "small" enough to be carried under a H-6's wings instead of the single larger one under its belly?

Also, the designation is strange: 2PZD-21 ... something DF-21 related?

It's probably just a random designation, and may be export oriented.

It looks like they just took one of their export SRBMs (like BP-12 or CM-401) and made it air launchable.

Sensible, but not too exotic.

Well, IMO it is indeed "exotic" since at first it is a unique concept and second since we've heard rumours about a smaller air-launched ballistic missile before and I don't think that any export customer would get such a system! The question however is, will the PLA get it?
