Chinese air to air missiles

Can anyone please brief me again with the latest conclusion since I missed a few pages and posts last week? So the PL-16 seems to be the PL-15 with smaller/foldable fins and not the next-generation short-range AAM?

And what else did I miss on AAM-related news?

Thanks in advance
Seems to be the PL-15 successor. What I've heard is that 6 of them can fit in the J-20/35 due to it's relatively compact size - most likely due to folding fins, range increase (not sure how significant) compared to the PL-15, and an allegedly significant NEZ increase.

So nothing too surprising. No idea if it's air-breathing though. There's also rumors of a "PL-18" floating around.

Unconfirm rumour, just speculation based on consequential serial numbering of missile designation, i.e. what comes after PL-15 should thus be PL-16.

Kinda hard to confirm unless they are used on J-16 too. But I doubt it since the selling point of the supposed PL-16 is that it is more compact so that they could fit more into the weapons bay.

Deino what improvements do you think the successor of the PL-10 will have? Isn't the PL-10 already near the bleeding edge of IR SRAAM technology? Any notable features it is missing from current state of the art SRAAMs at the moment? I highly doubt an upgraded seeker or rocket motor would require a new designation.

Hi,
is there anything in Chinese inventory including a fighter jet, where PLAAF or Naval arm
can strap something like like AAM 174 like from a SAM version into a AAM version if
china want to go ahead
thank you

I really don't want to offend you, but do you ever do a bit of search / research on your own before you ask?

Just type "Chinese long range air to air missiles" or "Chinese equivalent of AIM-174" on search engine in your phone or computer. Also Wikipedia though not usually accurate, can still give you a good idea on your question.

Learn to do searching on internet by yourself. Also learn to go back all thoses pages on the relevant thread in this forum search by using your own time instead of asking others to spend their time to search and feed publicly available info to you.
