I'm sorry if this was posted already somewhere, but what possible model of Y-12 could they be talking about there? I would appreciate any help

I must admit I haven't heard anything regarding new deliveries and even thought that variant (Y-12D) is no longer in production however there have been reports since some time these aircraft may have been re-engined with the indigenous WJ-9 turboprop engine (509kW) replacing the original Canadian P&W PT6A.

Nobody seems sure about status of AN-225, but one thing for sure: CR929 is a question mark now. Original plans called for Western engines, and a considerable amount of western content. I had always assumed China and Russia would somehow fall out over this project, or on some other issue. Could China take it forward without Russia's involvement? Could Russia, somehow, remain quietly involved in the programme?

China is big enough to take on the C929 by itself.

The Russians appear the be very advanced in making composite wings and high bypass turbofans. Would it not be best to just remove the foreign components that will be remaining? Give these small projects to Iran, Kazakhstan or Pakistan. Then have China colonize the flight controls and avionics.

The US will find a way to sanction the company anyways, might as well just get going.

Lol, there is no point in making the CR929 if it is dependent on Western components. They will sanction it to death the moment it looks like it might be successful. That was obvious before this week.
western components help with certification process in western countries; if they sanction Chinese planes they'll also be sanctioning their own companies and whose to say China won't already have the machining and tooling for those components?

They've sanctioned the Boeing and Airbus airplanes in Russia. And also the subsystems that Russia was using to produce their domestic airliner.

Even the C919 is suffering because of issues with US sourced subsystems.

So I agree that China has to ensure that there are no Western components or subsystems at all in the CR929. China should have enough experience now (with the ARJ-21 and also the C919) to develop domestic alternatives and should have a large enough market to support this.
