Yeah but can the 'west' be able to retain that world economy title for the next 200 years? Looks like Asia will be the next trend setter (again) if things stay as it is. China was the first to cross the Indian ocean and their many inventions has many resonance to man kind in math, science, architecture, arts, poetry, engineer, and literature that helped and enable the "west" to progress and took the next step.

I think the name is relatively harmless and benign, and with all the western media hoopla about the "military threat" of China's spacefaring expeditions, harmless is good.


And frankly, the west will get used to china's names. They call the tiangong missions, the shenzhou spacecrafts, the long march rockets all under common parlance now.

Personally I think chang'e 3 will be a relative non event in the west anyway. It won't be groundbreaking, it'll only signal humanity's first rover exploration of the moon for two or three decades. No need to give it a super prestigious name.

yup, got a few coming up included the possible commercial space ones from the USA. If I remember right Chang'e will be allowed by a Indian unit and then a European.
