This was an interesting thread. Even though Vietnam is still playing footsies with China in the SCS.
In retrospect, letting Vietnam reunite was not the most optimal choice. The divided Korea model would have benefited China more in the long run.

My theory for China's SCS endgame is to establish maritime territorial boundaries around the whole Nansha with demilitarized enclaves for Vietnam. Together with Xisha and Dongsha, most of the SCS would be China's EEZ.
There goes the election chances of Marcos allies and cronies....lol they have to implement plan X to bride, cheat and steal the election and in desperation maybe plan Z which is to murder the VP.
