Here you can see the inadequacies of defending our airspace or even the whole territory of the country, we can't monitor the movement of aircraft both foreign or local and we had the balls to challenge China.

The American knows this and why aren't they helping us to plug those weaknesses. It really shows at what level of importance the US place on us which is on the bottom of the list.

These Filipinos think that the Americans will stop any war from happening. What they fail to realize is that they are not white or aryan. ASEAN can only blame the Philippines if war happens and they become affected.

Is it just me, or does it look like the US has all but given up on challenging China in the SCS?
The US military apparatchiks probably need some time to learn what new party lines to toe now that there is a new Emperor in charge.

I suspect that Indopaccom probably isn't as highly prioritised now that the majority of the US focus is on Europe and Ukraine.

A long time ago, when Obama pivot to Asia was announce in 2011 at Honolulu, XJP after ascending the presidency in 2012 had hatch a plan to counter it by building those artificial island in 2013, by the time Obama leave office in 2016 it was game over as the SCS had become a Chinese lake.

And you know Obama, he coined the word ESCALATORY DOMINANCE, being cautious man with a new Nationalist leader in Duterte, he can't implement the strategy as the new incumbent Trump had no interest to push it thru.

A side note, The American will also abandon the first Island Chain and concentrate their forces on the Second Island Chain, that is were the fight with China will took place. So Taiwan will also be abandon. What of Japan and SK? both vassal will be left alone albeit with some US armed support. The American retreat is a sound strategy of limiting loses while letting your vassal bear the brunt of the fighting.

Capable my asses, its capability is equal to TYPE 56 corvette without any SAM and basic ASW. (using AW 109 WHICH IS NOT an ASW COPTER)

The Philippines don't actually have the capacity to engage China in open warfare, so the actual capability of the ship isn't important. What is important is managing perceptions, both for the domestic audience and also to the foreign backers.

The navy gets a ship, the shipyards get a contract, politicians get the kickbacks. They all have a bright future.

Well, country this big can potentially go porcupine; Iran and DPRK can, others can, too. But hiding behind US is clearly the preferred option, especially since they for decades *know* that US is the only power in the region, and they very clearly don't believe in war.

One may remember how in late 1941 Philippines suddenly realized where they are on a map, and made some desperate attempts to communicate to Japan they they would like to remain neutral.
