Damn I didn't know water cannon can break glass. I thought it was more akin to a car wash/fire hydrant.
Water cannon can definitely break glass. It can also definetely kill as well

While some say that water cannon is a non-lethal tool, I think a more accurate term would be "less lethal"

Keep this in mind next time you see drone or aerial footage of a boat getting slammed by water cannons. The equipment as well as it's sailors can be damaged and/or injured/kill

A CNN journalist reporting how China swarmed a PH convoy and stopped it in its tracks. They had managed to separate and isolate the individual PH CG and supply vessels and stopped them from progressing further. There was clearly coordination between the China CG and fishermen vessels to surround individual PH vessels. Thank CNN for giving us a clear footage at how woeful the PH are against China in the SCS. Got some clear footages of a Type 056 CG vessel, and some Chinese CG vessels blasting water at a PH supply vessel.

It turns out we were wrong, the Americans were in fact not too far away:

A LCS was only something like 30 away from Renaijao, but they ended up just watching while that supply ship got the shower.
China definitely needs way more of her own counterparts to the LCS, both manned and unmanned - Given the potential ferociousness in the SCS and ECS disputes, boats and ships that can travel at high-30s of knots, if not 40+ knots are definitely much-welcomed addition.

Which is exactly how I predicted. Military vessel cannot be harmed, as it is act of war. Military vessel also cannot attack civilian vessel, because it is also act of war. Nobody is interested in a shooting war right now. That is the common sense.

Do what with that kind of speed? Ram other ships? There are plenty of air bases in the SCS. UAVs are much faster and flexible.

You really wanna go back there? Where are the mythical coast guard ship abductions you were talking about that would supposedly trigger the US response?
Oh please. There is no point seizing boat at this point. It was a proposal in case of Taiwan playing hard ball on the murder. Since Taiwan appears to compensate and sentence the offender, major escalation can wait. The matter to focus right now is the extent of sentence and compensation, which will come along with nice piece of salami slicing in military realm. No point arguing the hypothetical scenario when the debate on precondition has been settled.

But of course if you want to talk about it in context of SCS you are welcome. Honestly it fits SCS scenario better. US has much better chance here than couple miles near Chinese mainland.
