China's SCS Strategy Thread

Perhaps china should offer the Philippines as a sign of goodwill an old oil-rig; to replace that old rust-bucket. Without the drilling equipment there wold be ample space for the detachment and the helicopter platform would ensure both weekly fresh provisions/and if required immediate medevac as well allowing for some additional experience for Philippine helicopter pilots.
Why would China offer this good will gesture? What does China get in return? Philippines is already on pretty thin ice with that call to congratulate DPP after the ROC election.

Two civilian vessels, the Unaiza Mae 1 and 2, had figured in several cat-and-mouse encounters with the Chinese Coast Guard in the past. It turned out that the vessels had to undergo repairs for damages they incurred during their past missions. The poor vessels had experienced being water cannoned and rammed.
Apparently with those 2 out of action they used a 3rd ship, ML Kalayaan. That's the one that got watercannon'd big time in December:

UM1 either got repaired but then suffered another technical issue, or has not been repaired in time for the most recent resupply mission, hence why airdrop was used instead.

Yes, China can show a goodwill by reclaiming part of the reef beside the old rust bucket and build a hospital, a post office, a customs and immigration office, and helipad to assist the philippino in distress. LOL.

If that’s the case, it would be entirely logical to heavy duty water cannon every time these ships come. Water cannoning 3 times vs 100 times get the same coverage internationally. People desensitize to it after a while.

All that hype and noise about the Filipino Brahmos, and I thought it was delivered already. What took them so long?

Terrible choice for the PH anyway, choosing the Brahmos over the original P-800 Onyx. An overpriced and overhyped knock-off of the original. The aftersales service is not gonna be as good as what Russia might give.

The Brahmos is not new to China and it doesn't scare the PLAN. For more than a decade, they have been dealing with the threats of high-supersonic AshM's like the P-800 Onyx and the HF-III missiles. If the PH thinks that this will alter the balance of power in the region in its favour, then it is gravely mistaken. What its Brahmos will do is compel China to bring more firepower into the SCS to confront the PH. If the PH military have any itchy trigger fingers to use their Brahmos on the Chinese Coast guard or PLAN, there will be hell for them to pay.

"Hey, you're occupying my territory. Let me build some infrastructure for you at my own expense to make your occupation more comfortable." What is your rationale for suggesting this?

The Philippines conducted a supply mission today, which was not opposed by CCG at all. Clearly some sort of arrangement was worked out at the meeting in Shanghai, but the specifics remain unknown. Neither country provided any details.

During the previous airdrop (also uncontested), the Chinese spokesman mentioned "special arrangements" had been agreed on, which was denied by the Filipino spokesman. Perhaps it's true after all.

I hope the Chinese side force the Philippines to also admit that a special arrangement was agreed by both parties.

Otherwise china says there's a special arrangement but the Philippines denies it publically and then they successfully complete a supply mission. Makes china look weak on the surface. The Philippines can just brag that they are able to make supply missions and china can't stop them, while denying a special arrangement ever took place. A PR win.

Kind of like what the US did to the USSR during the Cuban missile crisis.

The conditions by China is explicitly clear.
Any Filipino vessel wishing to supply food to BRP Sierra Madre are subjected to onboard inspection by CGG. Otherwise more water cannon treat.
No construction materials nor weapons will be allowed.
These conditions have always been there and nothing have changed for ages.
Many videos about these missions have been shown on the internet.
Airdrop is not allowed and planes conducting these missiom may be risking their life.
Bongbong is now facing a real dilemma as his sponsor Biden is now in a middle of a crisis in the Red Sea and has no time for him. He bet and lost badly.
He is now all alone by himself to fend off these crisis he created. All he need to do is to fire the first shot and it will be all over.
