I don't think US will just sit by this time, and with US in back, Phillipines will be very bold. So, China will have to decide how tough are they going to be to enforce its claims. If push comes to shove and the situation is such that violent force needs to be applied like what happened in the Galwan clash, will they back down?

China has been too cautious when it comes to dealing with the Phillipines. Let's see what they do next.
Bro you don't know how the Chinese operate, they know time is on their side, this cat and mouse game will surely drain both economically and mentally the will of the Filipinos. I mean can the Philippine sustained it? Look at what happening in Taiwan, their armed forces have given up intercepting the Chinese Incursion, It had become a NEW NORMAL, I think the Filipinos leadership had a major rethink because of the vastness of the SCS, the Chinese if they wanted to, can escalate at multiple front. Scarborough shoal is now under the Chinese control right in our doorstep a few kilometers from Zambales , there are other Philippine held island that is indefensible and logistically difficult to supply. In the SCS China had an Escalatory Dominance, it's a Chinese lake, even the US and its allies knows that. Their strategy of spreading their assets to nullify the Chinese dominance is bound to fail cause the US is stretch too thin and facing multiple fronts.

South China Sea: Philippines aims to ‘take control again’ of shoal from China amid rising tensions

  • Manila plans to deploy closer to the China-controlled Scarborough Shoal after removing a floating barrier placed by Beijing
  • China calls the shoal its ‘inherent territory’ and says it will take steps to ‘drive away Philippine vessels
The coastguard said on Tuesday it would team up with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and Armed Forces of the Philippines for the mission and step up patrols of Scarborough Shoal, which China has controlled since 2012 and deployed a flotilla of fishing boats to the area ever since.

Coastguard spokesperson Commodore Jay Tarriela expressed optimism about retaking the shoal, locally known as Bajo de Masinloc, that would give access to the country’s fisherfolk inside the lagoon
“Yes, [it is possible]. As I have said, since the new administration took office, we have already strategised how can we be able to take control once again of Bajo de Masinloc, especially the lagoon,” Tarriela said.
Tarriela added the Philippines’ ability to anchor 300m close to the strategic outcrop for the first time since China started maintaining a constant presence of coastguard vessels showed the government’s long-time security blueprint was yielding results and the momentum would be maintained.
“For so many months, we were able to calibrate our deployment in such time that we can already anchor the distance of 300m. This will be sustained in the next coming days but I don’t want to detail in public how are we going to do that,” he said.
China allowed Filipino fishermen to return to the shoal when bilateral ties improved under then president Rodrigo Duterte. But tensions have mounted again since his successor, Ferdinand Marcos Jnr, took office last year.

Bro the Chinese always maintain a large ship inside and another one at the mouth of the lagoon, I mean literally station them there with daily rotation. So how can the Philippine Coast Guard back up their claim, maybe in the periphery? And also aside from the CCG there are naval asset standing by in support, like I said China had Escalatory Dominance and we lost the our claim in Scarborough shoal as stated in the Hague tribunal ruling were it stated that everybody can fish there instead of our inclusivity.

  • The Facts: An arbitral tribunal ruled in 2016 that small-scale Filipino and Chinese fishermen have “traditional fishing rights” in the shoal, declaring it as a common fishing ground. Neither China nor the Philippines can prevent citizens of the other country from accessing the shoal.
See the absurdity of the ruling it invalidate our claimed....lol (the Vietnamese are celebrating as they and the US are the main benefactor) The main theme of the ruling is to validate the US FON, nothing more nothing less. I Like to borrow a meme form Trump, "lets take them to court and let the Philippine pay for it."....lol

SCSPI (PRC SCS NGO/mouthpiece) :

As far as we know, the Floating Barrier is temporarily deployed between two ships when needed, not quite like the one your guys removed.

I don't know if they're contesting PH actually cut the barrier or cut the... wrong barrier? Either way, pics from a few pages earlier (released by PH coast guard) had aerial shot suggesting it is anchored barrier. But I have no idea. PH trying hard to boost media around SCS and hailing strategy success (i.e. claiming PRC behaves when media around). Could release more damning pictures of construction supplies making it to Sierra Madre or shot of barrier being gone with the shoal in the shot. Get CSIS/AMTI for some damning before/after satelite photos instead of fakish moonlanding productions.
