Chinese media/commentators have been telling the Chinese the whole year that everything is ok, SCS code of conduct will be signed this year, small annoyances are within China's plan. It's reassuring but unfortunately it's not true. Vietnam and Philippines will both side with US militarily and side with China economically. Philippines with keep pissing over China's red lines while Vietnam focuses on militarizing the islands when Philippines is keeping China busy in the SCS.

Do you have any strategy recommendation for China right now? The current do nothing approach clearly isn't working.
no, it's you that believed that they will do it and kept peddling us all that crap for Chinese social media. The fact that none of this stuff go signed means those people you are looking up on social media are not worth following

what is wrong with Vietnam militarizing their islands? they control those islands. That's no different than China militarizing its own islands.

China's relationship right now with Vietnam is fine, no thanks to all the crazy folks on weibo that keeps calling Vietnamese "monkeys"

btw, whoever is in charge of Chinese SCS policy needs to get fired asap

if you are going to use the extreme policy of using water gun against supply ship then do it everytime until that ship runs out of supply or drag that junk out of there.

Otherwise, you do it once and it looks bad and then go soft afterward. Nothing gets accomplished. There is no accountability in Chinese leadership with this wavering inconsistent policies.

Phillipines has supplied that ships for years. If you are pissed off at Phillpines and want to change the status quo, then adopt consistent policy and be willing to deal with consequences of that. Don't do this 30% hard ass and 70% soft ass nonsense.

This carrot and stick approach doesn’t work. The Filipinos understand exactly what will happen to them if China dominates the SCS.

Punishing the Philippines will push them further towards the U.S. Changing the status quo means pushing the US out of Asia.

Didn‘t they do it because it was carrying materials to reinforce/repair the ship?

Ships carrying supplies, like food etc. is being let through.

If the Chinese didn't board the supply ships, how do we know only food is being let through? This is China again lying to assuage its domestic audience. We know for a fact previously construction materials have been delivered to the ship before, how do we know it's not happening again?

I mean presumably they would be able to see it visually? Since materials needed to build an outpost isn't something some malnourished PH conscripts can carry in their pockets.

It could either be China lying or the Philippines lying, and one of them have much better track record as well as need for accountability to their people, while the other is a colonial tinpot regime which can't keep it's own story straight for 2 minutes.

As long as China has the monopoly on violent action in the SCS, it's only a matter of time and finess to suppress the other countries. And the matter of convincing doves at home to take tougher stances. It worked for all the other islands China have already fortified. I don't see any current indications it isn't gonna work here either.

When did China "lie" per your accusations on your post? You're postings are becoming a little too jingoistic and short on actual substance to be blunt with you. Actions of no return are of grave consequences that can never be dialed back like a switch. I don't know why you're so fixated on this particular issue that you desperately want China to punish the Philippines.

Don't you live in the Philippines and ergo your family businesses as well as your loved ones live there? How's the escalation of violence going to help the Chinese community in the Philippines if any members of the Philippine Navy gets hurt? Then it'll definitely stoke up the emotional nationalistic fervor of the Filipinos that will make it impossible for the current PRO-AMERICA government not to intercede and make a hay in the international media, with the help and guiding hand of the collective west.
