Bro let's see IF Japan will open its wallet, I doubt they will and Marcos will go to China again with begging bowl in hand asking for alms. ;)
I'm just afraid they waited to long to choose a side, now playing both sides looks kind of weak and panicking, they will probably miss the opportunity to get the best deals.

Probably get some shitty Japanese infrastructure promises..

While this area is not my domain, I advise you to reply in a mature manner. You are no longer in a casual thread. You are in a much more serious one which entails much more serious consequences. You can disagree and refute their argument anytime you want, but it must be done so in a mature manner.

The more these countries around China behave like this, the more I feel that China should consider the liberation of these countries from Western control once the Taiwan problem is settled and American forces has been successfully booted out of the WestPac.

Liberation hereby isn't just referring to the military level, but on the political, economical, societal, historical and cultural levels too.

Since these countries has no intention to co-exist with China peacefully - Even after China has showed its utmost sincerity - Then it's time to go the forceful way. In order to safeguard the strategical integrity and security of China, countries around China must be made to become pro-China, one way or another.

敬酒不吃,就吃罚酒!
There won't be a need to "liberate" anyone or anything if you simply defeat U.S. and Japan in WestPac. A resounding defeat of the U.S. alliance will end American hegemony in Asia and all of their allied countries will suddenly become a lot more friendly to China.

Again bro you need to drink your Kool aid to cool down, it's not about China , it's about consolidating the bloc as Indonesia is showing leadership. We in ASEAN are seeing trouble in our neighborhood and we are concern, as I said China is our neighbor and we are looking forward to see its rise in prominence because a prosperous China can lift all of us like a tide. You want proof then see the result from G20 summit as a prime example of where ASEAN is going. The American are getting desperate, a cheap win in the Philippine with the so called base access is nothing in the context of geopolitical issues as it contribute nothing strategically for the US. What matters for China are Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar, those are strategic countries. With the construction of Chinese artificial island in the SCS negate the importance of the Philippine as prime real estate as that region become a Chinese lake.

And in 3years time the China will push Japan and the US out of the 2nd Island chain as the Chinese escalate it's Escalatory Dominance. Thus making Okinawa and even Guam very vulnerable.
Its not about cooling down for him, hes just a member of a certain tribe that spend too much time having hopium that things will eventually turn against China because it makes them feel better about their chances to become a "superpower".

No matter how collaborator regimes conspire, they've failed to challenge the status quo of Chinese ownership over SCS. And with Vietnam, Cambodia along with Burma moving towards an openly pro-Chinese stance, ASEAN will further be paralyzed from being able to take collective action, even as such collective action has failed in the past.

By diplomacy or by force, China will keep defending its lines, continue to reject illegal American influences as well as advise both the Philippines or anyone else to do the same. If they listen or not is not a major concern. The Philippines is not Russia with a million man army, large air force and thousands of nukes. They're not even Ukraine or North Korea that have a million man army and not much else.

With 4 destroyers as modern as the Luda class and a handful of planes almost approaching the combat strength of late J-8 models, Philippines intends to go guns blazing together with America? Then let it happen.

Marcos might be putting his nation on the wrong side of history, but that is a tragedy almost exclusively for his people and not any others. And almost assuredly, there are people smart enough to hold him back.

There's a strong INTERNAL PUSH BACK from LOCAL ELECTED Leaders situated on the area where the supposed agreed upon EDCA sites for American bases are to be built.

Case in point:

If the worst case scenario plays out a sinking of the Philippines Coast Guard due to the increasingly confident, misplaced assumptions of the Philippines Coast Guard/Navy/Military that it'll have the full backing of the U.S. due to the country having a Defense treaty would the U.S. really and willing to waste away their precious military and American lives for the disputed Islands between China and U.S. knowing such a move would invite an opening to the Taiwan Reunification scenario (China would not waste away the opportunity to limit the scope of operations along with limiting its politico-military objectives to the SCS.

The Philippines and some of it's military members are frankly BRAIN DEAD and are highly irresponsible, not to mention illiterate ignorant regarding the disparity of strength, military doctrine, industrial capacity, military education with respect to their Chinese counterparts. I have yet to read any illuminating study by and from the Philippines Military junior and top officers regarding their views on the changing landscape of modern combat that are far more lethal, destructive, and technology driven than ever before.

There was a recent embarrassing moment with their Army SPECIAL FORCES CAPTURED, APPREHENDED by AN ISLAMIST Separatists M.I.L.F. (Moro Islamic Liberation Front) when the SPF were on a mission to hunt another domestic separatist group called CPP-NPA (Communist Party of The Philippines, New People's Army) within the same area/vicinity. Supposedly, the SPF group waded into the ISLAMIST area of control and were quickly surrounded and would have been killed if one of the SPF soldier decided to play American Rambo.

Now, why am I being so down on the Philippine Military? Because they don't have an actual National Strategy to deal with the mess they're trying to invite, no China strategy other than beg and ask America like the b.. Ch that they are. Plus, Philippines military is VERY CORRUPT with military officers using and abusing their junior officers and enlisted soldiers as their chauffeurs, cooks, drivers, cleaners to their ill gotten wealth gained from funding that were budgeted to strengthen or procure x, y, z for their service.

So yeah, let the Philippines volunteer to be on the frontline of stupidity when their economy is shaky due to Covid-19 pandemic, the inflationary spikes causing food prices to be affected greatly which has an indirect and direct cause to the rise in crime and black market stuff for all kind of goods both perishable and non-perishable. I don't know what economic benefits is the U.S. going to provide the Philippines and what guarantee they received that Marcos Jr. is hell bent on antagonizing its relationship with China because he knows his country is going to be FUBAR if it entangle itself with the anti-China b.s. camp firmly with the U.S. no matter what.

Like how the populace and governor of Okinawa opposed the American bases on the island?
Okinawa does not have a former President who's very popular and can literally influence the government to collapse or destabilize especially if and when the Philippines is going to get dragged into a war with China due to US malign influence. Duterte already thought of Marcos Jr. as a spoiled brat and a weak leader. He came around or tempered his comments when his daughter became the running mate of Marcos Jr. mostly from the overtures made by Marcos jr. older sister Imee Marcos.

I can see Marcos Jr. Getting impeached by congress if mayhem and destruction befalls his country. The country is in dire need of economic development, the man instead opt for military brinkmanship with China with the superfluous backing of America. Good luck.

As long as Marcos can sign the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea that should be the least he can do for the region as a whole. Maybe Sarah Duterte can pick up where her dad left it, after Marcos the weak is voted out or replaced..
