Personally, I don't trust the Phillipine as the people are ingrained with adoration of the Yanks. Even the educated people speak with a yankee accent....
Yup, those people speak Pretty English, even Hua Qiao try to emulate them....lol to be accepted in high society you need to have an American accent BUT to stand out you need to speak ENGLISH english as in Blimey....lol
But seriously people need aspiration, it's not about worshiping the US, it's about being accepted in society, there are a lot of Nouveau Riche in the Philippines and most of them are Hua Qiao, heck I even seen and heard a lot of Mainlanders trying so hard to converse their kids in english. I had experience talking to their kids in Chinese and they answer back in English, I joking ask why they allowed their children to have such distasteful etiquette and they answer me back gleefully that they need to do it to assimilate. I had trained my kids well, I instill in them the value of being Chinese and it help them in their work and careers, my Daughter work in LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) in BGC and her salary is above those Pretty English colleague (3x the salary of her supervisor) because she speak Pretty Chinese, so who's the big Mommy...lol

Surveys are manipulative, how do they frame the question? If they ask IF Chinese culture influence their lives then it's very positive, If they ask about the SCS issue then it's outright negative. If I was commission by China to do a survey then the questionnaire will be like this, are American racist? did they commit crime against humanity when they subjugated the Philippine.

I saw this video featuring Maros sometime in 2014, at that time he was very skeptical about this EDCA treaty which was still under work back then
But now he is allowing Four additional sites for the US to station their forces in the country.
I say this guy is unpredictable and cannot be trusted. Even worse, because of his family's shady reputation, the US might have dirt on him and is using this to dictate his actions.
