Looks like procedures for de-escalation is being established.

And from this article it seems like it is a system of hotlines between China and Philippines up to the highest level (between Presidents). We will know in a few months, probably, if all of this is just Kabuki theatre or something that actually works. While I hate to think this way, but I now suspect (probably wrongly) all ensuing discussions between China and the Philippines, or indeed China with ROW, will be heavily influenced by a seemingly an inevitable change in USA leadership.

I hope not, the main goal of the Philippines is to destabilize south east Asia and beyond. Normalizing ties with them is like growing a tumor

I don't know how Xi feels about Marcos, so I will defer to you on that. However, if I were to venture a guess what presidential-hotlines has happened, it is a way for China to tip the balance toward lowering the temperature and deescalate, at least for now. And presents a way for Marco's government to say to its people that a diplomatic resolution is being worked on and is "... probable..." and MDT is not the only way to go. But we all know that balance probably won't last and soon some crisis will happen again and things will turn ugly and the same outrage-escalate cycle will happen again. And as long as the cycle repeats without turning completely out of control, it buys China time to get ready for the eventuality when the situation actually get out of control.

Sounds pretty dumb, the hotline is more for xi to tell Marcos No. De escalation when your winning sounds pretty weak.

There will be a hotline BUT like @duskseeker posted Xi will not answer the call, I'm not trying to belittle Marcos BUT like his previous predecessor Aquino, he viewed them as AMBOY and a snake, since both of them came from the same pedigree of dirty traditional politician.

There are reports that when the China Coast Guard was salvaging an unidentified object dropped by a P8A in the South China Sea, a U.S. warship attempted to obstruct the operation. In response, China’s Shandong aircraft carrier promptly moved to provide reinforcement. The U.S. urgently deployed an RC-135 electronic reconnaissance aircraft and an EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft, while China dispatched a Y-9 electronic warfare aircraft, leading to a direct electronic warfare confrontation between the two sides.

It seemed like China had won the EW battle against the U.S. I didn't know China's EW is that good. It might even surpassed U.S level.

I know good EW can disrupt a missile's accuracy or make them fall out of the sky. Can it disrupt all datalink for a fighter jet so it get lost in the clouds?

Are there more convincing sources for these reports?
In what context did this "electronic warfare" occur? Were both sides trying to interfere with each other's comms and/or navigation?
