looks like the US is offering assistance. Philippines turned them down otherwise this could escalate, or worse, make China back off.
Like what @Overbom mentioned its a Kabuki show, the US don't want to escalate period, the Filipinos are confuse? who will they follow, Blinken? they (with Japan) had been calling him and he won't answer. Kurt Campbell? he is good at pivoting BUT failed in geography so he need to pivot again to escape disaster. So whose calling the shot, my guess is Lloyd Austin, he know the US so overstretch that a war with China or even an incident will damage the American prestige tremendously, so he made the call to de escalate and you can see the result. Why is Gibo Teodoro his Philippine counterpart had been quite lately, where is his bravado from his previous statement, why is Manila having talks with China right now, who gave them the permission to do so, nothing happen in the vacuum when we are talking about the US Philippine relationship.

It's simple, currently it is a is coast guard tier conflict. While the US supports destabilizing China, it also does not really support the way that PH claimed the reef by ramming a derelict ship on it. So as long as it stays coast guard tier the US will not offer overt military support in this specific spat.

Meanwhile China can mobilize the maritime militia/CCG and deny the repair of the ship via delivery of construction materials. At this level of conflict with minimal escalation, the rest of the SCS neighbouring nation continues to look on Phillipines like they are clowns without feeling threatened by aggressive Chinese action. If China goes kinetic the situation becomes entirely unpredictable and not in a good way.

Isolation and ensuring that compliance lead to trade prosperity is the key here. China has enough economic weight to resolve this without forcefully evicting the poor patriots stuck on a rusting hulk, placed there by corrupt politicians.

There is nothing that the US is willing to stomach that can make China back off right now, especially in China’s own backyard. This nonsense that the idiots in Malacañang keep clinging to, about “international support” is a cope and shows how out of touch they are with reality. With every stunt that this BBM administration pulls, faith in US foreign policy around the world is being eroded, and the only thing they can do is damage control with their farcical think-tanks and twitter shills.
Well thank you bro, in fact among the most beautiful women in the world, you will find a Filipino Chinese among them plus I don't have problem with ordinary Filipino, in fact I find them amusing and tragic, too friendly to a fault and so Fatalistic, Their attitude is all gods doing, your failure is because you don't believed in the lord or you're not faithful enough. The reason why there is a proliferation of religious group (Christian Evangelist) like Quiboloy, the Inglesia ni Christo and El Shaddai led by Mike Velarde who prey on the innocent for Money.
That’s the perfect word for the ordinary Filipino, tragic. They are deliberately kept ignorant because it benefits the elites.

@duskseeker ,@Bellum_Romanum @GenghisCant @BlackWindMnt , Since I have a lot time because its a weekend I had been researching this guy Jay Tarriela and Boy!!!! I was surprise, this fellow is a shameful cheater and a traitor

He attended numerous military and coast guard training, locally and abroad. He holds a graduate degree from the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy Graduate School and a Master of Policy Studies degree from GRIPS and the Japan Coast Guard Academy, where he was part of the first batch of the Maritime Safety and Security Program launched jointly by both institutions in 2016.

He was chosen as part of the inaugural cohort of the 2021 Pacific Forum U.S.-Philippines’ Next Generation Leaders’ Initiative. Further, he was selected as a fellow of the 2021 East-West Center U.S.-Philippines Alliance Fellowship in Washington, DC, USA.

Tarriela has written opinion-editorial articles published by The Diplomat, The National Interest, Analyzing War, and other leading publications. He is also a visiting professor at the National Defence College of the Philippines, Philippine Public Safety College, and the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy Graduate School.

Like I said from my previous post this guy is a loser and a political soldier, rising from the ranks thru political influence from his oligarch sponsor. So yeah I standby my statement that he will run for public office in 2025 since his stint in the military is over with NO PROSPECT of promotion since he isn't a PMA graduate and had finished his schooling on an ordinary Merchant Shipping school.

Dec 4, 2023 — ... Tarriela's and other cadets' alleged involvement in a cheating incident. Abad mentioned that Tarriela was “kicked out” while Tiglao stated ...

MANILA, Philippines — Similarly worded allegations that Philippine Coast Guard Spokesperson Jay Tarriela was a covert “CIA agent” and supporter of the United States government surfaced online after he publicly condemned the Chinese Coast Guard’s water cannon attack on Filipino vessels in August.
Besides accusing the PCG spokesperson of aligning with the US government and inciting war with China, several accounts also revived a 2004 news story that mentioned Tarriela as one of the subjects of a probe by the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) on a cheating incident. At least two columnists writing for The Manila Times and Net25 echoed this narrative.
These posts have some of the markings of an influence operation that Philstar.com is tracking across all social media platforms, groups and spaces on the internet. Among others, the posts appear to focus on flooding the discourse on Chinese vessels’ behavior in the West Philippine Sea with accusations that Tarriela is providing intelligence services to the US government.

Based on Philstar.com’s monitoring, a verified account exhibiting troll-like behavior on X (formerly Twitter) first posted accusations that Tarriela worked for the US government’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) around two hours after Tarriela called Filipinos defending China amid tensions in the West Philippine Sea “unpatriotic” and “traitors.”
On August 10 at 8:32 a.m., Tarriela

on X:

“If you are a Filipino, whether in government or private sector, regardless of your politics, defending and making excuses for China's aggressive behavior should deem you unpatriotic, and a traitor to the Philippines and to our people.”
More than two hours later, at 10:54 a.m., the first to accuse Tarriela of being a “CIA agent” on X, verified user “Ani & Brewed Cofi” (@AniR113), posted:
“Is it true na CIA agent yan Tarriela? Narinig ko lang. (Is it true that Tarriela is a CIA agent? I just heard.)”
The anonymous account — which regularly posts content in favor of the Chinese government — asked the same question if Tarriela was a “CIA agent” twice more on the same day at around four-hour intervals (at 3:38 p.m., then again at 7:22 p.m.).

In the next two days, “Ani & Brewed Cofi” asked the same questions but this time included a new allegation — on whether Tarriela had been “kicked out” of PMA after allegedly cheating during a test.

From August 11 to August 14, other anonymous accounts then posted similar allegations on X calling Tarriela a “CIA agent” or a “traitor,” while others also claimed he was booted out of the PMA for cheating.
Several of these posts used the same keywords but none gained much traction. Of the X posts monitored by Philstar.com, most of these only had single-digit likes or retweets.

These allegations also appeared on Facebook in the same time period, most of which included call-outs of Tarriela as a “traitor” or labeling him as an “Amboy (slang for Filipinos acting like an American).”
In particular, Facebook page “Ted TWIST” posted on August 14 a screengrab of a

by The Philippine Star on the decision of a Regional Trial Court to halt the PMA from continuing its investigation into eight graduating cadets for alleged cheating, which included Tarriela.
“Ted TWIST” wrote in his post that Tarriela is "now... a mole for US spy intel as well as an attack dog” for speaking out against China over harassment incidents in the WPS. His post had no shares or likes.
Similarly, Facebook page “Jun Abines” posted on the same day (August 14) that Tarriela was "pro-American" and "already compromised" after he participated in a 2021 fellowship sponsored by a US-based research organization focusing on US relations with the Asia-Pacific region.

Days later, two columnists — Penny Abad of Net25 and Rigoberto Tiglao of The Manila Times — wrote pieces critical of the Philippine government’s statements condemning Chinese vessels’ actions toward Filipino boats. Both columns mentioned Tarriela.
Specifically, Abad quipped in an August 19 column that Tarriela was working as the "mouthpiece" of maritime security expert Ray Powell by "hyping" up the Chinese Coast Guard's water cannon act on Filipino vessels, which the Net25 writer labeled as a "water-spraying incident."
Both Abad and Tiglao wrote about the PMA’s probe into Tarriela's and other cadets' alleged involvement in a cheating incident. Abad mentioned that Tarriela was “kicked out” while Tiglao stated that the PMA's honor committee then had found "prima facie evidence" that Tarriela and his cohorts cheated in their management information science class.
The 2004 report —

— mentioned that Tarriela and seven other cadets filed a complaint against the PMA for "(depriving) them of their constitutional right to due process" in conducting an investigation into their alleged cheating during an exam.
Philstar.com reached out to Tarriela thrice in August and September for comment and will update this story with his response.

WPS disinformation

Tarriela on October 31 warned the public against narratives being shared and amplified by Filipinos that sought to downplay Chinese aggression in the West Philippine Sea.

Specifically, the PCG spokesperson sought to debunk claims that “speaking up against China's aggression in the West Philippine Sea will lead us into a war” and that “those who are critical of China (are) anti-Filipino and pro-US.”
“Ironically, these individuals claim to be pro-Filipino while promoting Chinese narratives and even contradicting factual reports from Philippine authorities,” Tarriela said, adding that the intention of those sharing these narratives was to “manipulate public opinion and divert attention from the issue of Chinese aggression.”

To be a CIA agent you need to have the following criteria.

1) an idiot
2) a loser
3) a cheater
4) a snake oil salesman
5) willing to sell his mother for a buck

So there you have it, he fits all the criteria and passed with flying color.
but that guy is ugly and loud.
Here I agree with you BUT there are solutions and can easily fix, one is Plastic Surgery and the other is Dental Hygiene....lol

@ansy1968 dam you went deep, really looks like the guy is a prime example of "elite" capture by the west.
A useful idiot, something i do notice is those puppets always claim to have US ivy league diplomas or some other diploma but a lot of them cheat or bought their credentials.
And sadly I can agree with @duskseeker ,@GenghisCant and @Bellum_Romanum that there are many like him willing sold their soul to America, its all about economics bro. Principle don't feed your family or ego, its all about your status and titles. In an Oligarchy society you can't climb the social ladder until some oligarch sponsor you, his promotion is not base on merit as his credentials are subpar, he is not a PMA graduate and compare to his peers had never work in the fields and mostly held desk job so how come he was promote to Commodore? Well Ray Powell recommend him after being scouted when studying in the US and compare his attitude to Admiral Carlos, after being expose as a warmonger and a traitor he keeps yapping with his mouth trying to convince us otherwise, while the good Admiral quietly resign his commission with dignity, That's the difference.
