China should purchase CH-47 Chinook

But the J-10 is highly dependent upon Soviet Material. anyway getting back to the original topic (Chinooks), the US wouldn't sell china them. The US currently views China as a enemy not as a friend, even though they conduct lots of trade together. If the US sells Chinook helicopters it likes basically that the US is funding both China and Taiwan to fight a war against each other. Thats not nice is it. The US can only pick one side, and they've clearly picked Taiwan as their unofficial ally.

Well US sells weapons to both Pakistan and India, eventhough the two countries are fighting each other.

I suppose the Z-8 could follow a similar pattern of evolution to the American H-3 - to - H-53 (Pelican to Sea Stallion) line. If anything the Chinese should have done it earlier. Remember that the Super Frelon, the basis of the Z-8, was originally developed by Aerospatiale with considerable Sikorsky cooperation and input. A new powertrain (engines-transmission-rotor), as well as other improvements might bring the Z-8 to near the level of the CH-53. The Jolly Red Giant, or the Red Sea Stallion if you like. ;)

what china need to improve its airlift capability is to research its own cargo planes instead of buying russian made crap. or just buy some C-5 Galaxy(which U.S. probably would never sell.)
heres 8 aspect that china needs to become a military that rivals U.S. military.

1) a better MBT that can match western modern tank such as M1A2, Challenger II, LeClerc, and leopard 2. to conquer the ground battles
2) speed up the JXX program for Air Superiority
3) speed up research of Carrier fleet for costal control such as the South Sea islands.
4) research large aircraft such as cargos/bombers to improve offensive and defensive capabilities.
5) increase military satillites and anti-satillite research.
6) anti-ballistic missile research.
7) advance attack helicopter depolyment
8) increase precision guided munition research
total cost of all above research and production...
only about 1.4 Trillion U.S. Dollars.

ok after what we seen in the earth quake, china is desperately in need of large helo transports, CH-47 Chinook would be very useful, but china need to come up with something better because CH-47 is getting very old.

The US Army is still taking delivery of the CH-47, now in the F model. Chinook is still going strong in the US armed forces, and will continue to do so for the next 20-30 years.

If the Chinese can't get CH-47 from the Americans, then they could purchase an equivalent helicoptor, the

. There are many options.

Hope the rescue operations go smoothly. Everything looks good so far. The government response in general is really something and the rescue workers are doing a terrific job. It's especially good to know the Chinese government is more open about the tragedy, and hopefully the openness will continue in the future.

yeah but not much generousity is going around the world to helping China right now...no donation boxes anywhere to be seen, or any advertisment asking for donations...its very quite unknown in Australia not the same treatment and public awarness such as the Tsunami...

im really disappointed how their isn't much effort going around for the public to give some money to China...:(

No offense, but I hope you were just joking. International donations and relief are posted everywhere in the news. I'm not sure about Australia, but I'm sure if you could access this site then you could also find tons of information about international aid to China after the tragic earthquake. Check out nytimes.com . It's also mentioned quite a number of times on CCTV.

If you go to the militaryphotos.net website for the thread "

Check out
