Elements of local governance being incompetent or trying to use their power to improperly manage an issue is nothing new.

There is a reason why Chinese trust in central government is much higher than local government. I'm not exactly sure why this matter in particular is so worrying for you, given decades of past similar events.
The main reason is Henan is my hometown.
I'm not a civil servant and I won't work in Beijing, the central government is a distant concept from me.
“The governor of a destroyed family, the magistrate of a broken family(灭门知府,破家县令)”The local government is the closest to my daily life,It's easy for them to destroy a person.

In that case you'll have to forgive us if your alarmism is not taken as seriously here.

At the end of the day, it is the authority, legitimacy and the ability of the central government to be able to discharge its duties and manage the oversights and missteps of local government that is important.

When there are missteps by local government, they are often observed and monitored, but they are also cautiously assessed because they are often exploited and concern-trolled by individuals both within China and groups outside of China that like to use it as agitprop against the CCP and the central government.

Well, pain can only be felt by those who really experience it.
I suffered from the rainstorm disaster last year. But I didn't know until the State Council's investigation report was released that the local government really concealed the information of the dead.
And incompetent leaders are completely derelict in the disaster, their unrealistic municipal planning exacerbated traffic jams and destroyed many historic shops.
So please forgive my distrust and hostility towards the local government.
It actually said that the withdraw was open to all for 40 minutes not just to that particular account. You made it sound like only that particular account was unsealed.

A person close to the bank got the news in advance, but the bank involved knew nothing about it.
In such a serious situation, this is undoubtedly the most serious mistake.

The most serious mistake was being sucked into the scam. This particular person claims in the video that she got a notice hours before the withdrawal period, could be true or fake but she would not be talking about it if she was guilty of wrongdoing.

Very insightful. although I don’t think this year will be a bad year for China, I do feel it will be a bad year for us in the west tbh.

Given your understanding of the mechanizations of Chinese bureaucracy, what do you think should have been the right solution For China to make local buracrats accountable? Democracy?
Has that shit work in the west? The pinnacle of democracy? I mean, let's get real we live in the real world. I have lived and live in countries with supposed Democracies, from the Philippines, America, Canada and have come to realize that nothing gets done, and no one has ever been held accountable to anything unless the corruption has been too severe that it could no longer be covered up. The politicians in the west just simply say sorry and then moves on, some gets their name temporarily tarnished but that's about it.

@zhangjim I don't know you and the full story behind your families predicament and I empathize with you to a certain extent. But your commentary on the complexities of government, governance and governing a continent size country with 3 continental size population will always be fraught with difficulties, challenges and problems. But the overall management and experience for the vast majority of people accomplished through the current system is the only evidence most people like myself that will use to judge the merits of such a system. So forgive me if I get annoyed, dismayed, and offended if I misinterpret your comments as unbecoming and misleading. My comments are also coming from a biased perspective based on my own set of experiences having been live through the systems that people like you have yet to experience.

WFT… motherf**king heartless. I actually don’t even trust the mother to raise him properly. did China have a good property adoption program now? I know in the past Chinese people didn’t like adoption very much. Wonder if that’s changed

In Chongqing, a museum had to be closed to visitors because the asphalt of multiple heritage buildings melted from the heat and could no longer hold the roof tiles.
