Let's apply some brainpower this "Harvard" grad seems to be incapable of. China's use of 1950s Soviet turboprop on ONE of China's dozens of aircrafts being manufactured is somehow indicative the entire nation is unworthy of attention in his own words. I guess when the Americans, up until this year, had to rely of Soviet rockets from that era to take them to space is also in this boat of unworthy attention seekers?
Gadget you do realise that Chinese decision makers choosing to forego the long and expensive development of a suitable turboprop for the AG600 isn't a simple matter of can do or can't do right? A suitable proven engine exists and can be manufactured in China already. The AG600 doesn't require a freshly developed engine. It's not an important project. The plane itself doesn't prioritise having a cutting edge sea-plane engine. Developing one is possible and within China's abilities but it'll be like putting a Kirin chip into a simple calculator - shooting at a mosquito with a cannon as the Chinese say. Any resources wasted there could be spent elsewhere. Why not look at all the other projects China has and is developing? Didn't realise Harvard grads are taught to be so intellectually myopic. Something tells me you are full of shit. I think you are more Indian IIT level... three digit ranking intelligence exposed.

There are actually plenty examples of western academics losing their minds from endless and useless intellectual masturbation and decades of social programing.
