As for large silo ICBMs I consider them to be a waste of time and resources. The Russian Sarmat for example is kind of pointless. I am sure China could develop a modern large liquid ICBM if they wanted to but what is the point? They are way less survivable.

Seeing JL-3 -- assuming it's the genuine JL-3 (rather than the upgraded JL-2 variant) -- would be a surprise.

A few are assuming the latter to be the case, and that the initially widely-purported "JL-3" is actually JL-4. Though, all of these allegations remains to be seen.

The idea of a DF-41 successor seems a bit odd given how recent it is and how it seemingly should meet most PLARF ICBM road mobile needs, and one would think the next most logical ICBM would be the large silo based ICBM (though in theory there's no reason both couldn't be pursued).

Yup, hence he added "(doubtful)" (存疑) after that suggestion. Though, at least based on my fuzzy memory, there should be at least one new type of ICBM under development in the recent years?

I.e. DF-45 and/or DF-51. Another idea would be ICBMs mounted with HGV warheads, though this is purely speculative.

In the meantime, I just realized that I've posted this news in the wrong thread (I should've posted this in the PLA Strategic News thread). Could you please help move the discussion to that thread or into a new thread for the 2025 Victory Day Parade?

Do they show off systems that just entered service or about to enter?

Per this morning's news conference hosted by the State Council Information Office and with several high-ranking PLA personnel present, it's most likely the former.

Translation of the news article:
The State Council Information Office held a press conference this morning, announcing that all equipment featured in this military parade consists of domestically-produced active-service main combat systems (国产现役主战装备).
While showcasing a new generation of conventional weapons and equipment, the parade also includes displays of emerging combat capabilities such as unmanned and intelligent systems, underwater warfare, cyber and electronic warfare, and hypersonic technologies.

My understanding is that the "JL-3" called by the DoD (which they attributed as equipping the latest 09IV boats) is actually a JL-2 variant, and that the actual JL-3 has yet to be seen by us.

... Meaning the question is whether the "JL-3" being mentioned in this case is the actual JL-3 or if everyone is getting mixed up because of nomenclature.

It would not be unreasonable for multiple new ICBM ranged weapons to be under development, but whether one would be ready to be shown at this year's parade is another matter.

We don't need to speculate about a DF-41 successor, we have video of the 20 wheeler TEL truck.
