So, with J20 being deployed to 9th air brigade where su30mkk were stationed.... any guesses where those su30 will go, to which unit? And consequently, which planes will they be replacing in that other unit? Will be see retirement of a J8 or J7 regiment?

Even if I'm the one who might ruin the party, I'm still sceptical ... at least as long as I do not see any 62x0x-serial number.

All images so far - even those shown at Wuhu - are clearly showing these J-20As numbered with 7827x-numbers ... so they are still assigned to the 66th Brigade.

J-11B vs J10B (my guess based on context) in golden helmet contest

  • The J-11B pair eventually won
  • The golden helmet is a "single elimination tournament" type of contest
  • Different types of jets can fight each other
  • J11-B has disadvantage in BVR. But in this situation they won because J-10B pair got too close.
  • J11-B has advantage in close-range

Going to add. The J-11 should be better than the J-10 in slower speeds, as deltas and low aspect wings tends to lose more lift over loss of air speed. A J-10 needs to maintain its high air speed and having canards reduce the energy bleed during turns, which pure delta forms like the Mirage 2000s tend to suffer from. The Mirage 2000 do have an added strake near the engine intake that is intended for vortex generation and reduce energy bleed during turns. Better lift at slower speeds with high angles of attack, makes the J-11 a better "dog fighter", and the plane's high TWR can quickly regain energy and position. The J-10 has to function more like a boom and zoom, and planes with low aspect wings also tend to have a fast roll, that the J-10 pilot needs to exploit.

J-11B used electrical countermeasures against the J-10B during the contest.

On a side note, Huitong claims that J-16s have been deployed near Chongqing.

@TheHack

First of all welcome but PLAESE could you take care that you post in the correct thread?

This thread is related to the PLAAF-Flanker variants ... so posting stuff on the FC-31 and JF-17, Pakistan's aviation industry and SAC is irrelevant.
