To maintain Freedom of Navigation in International Airspace, and Surface Shipping,, why do you think?? and hey, the Russians come see us every few days, let the PLAAF or PLANAF come see us?? we ain't "skeered", but then no one has anything to fear from the US unless they cause some one else harm.... lots of Mexican citizens cross the border every year looking for a better life and freedom from the violence that plagues Mexico,,, I really don't blame them, but yes we do need to shut the drug smuggling element down and out!

Living in a fantasy land in your golden days as usual. You truly have no idea the number of innocent civilians that have caused no one harm, but the US has killed anyway in its quest for power. Not saying that other countries don't but if you think that the US is a global protector, you're just getting too old to think; the US protects only its own interests.

Modern history sujests it is only the case if you have capability to shot down enough US planes, and even this only thanks to Vietnam experience. Pitiful experiences of countries which cannot are plentiful.
Otherwise it's exactly something what's better to be countered. Just in case.
