Well the whole F16U style J10 upgrade suggestion came from the idea of updating the J10 with the WS15 when that becomes available. This would allow the new J10X to benefit from huge logistical and operational savings from sharing the same engine as the J20 as well as all the advanages a WS15 class engine would bring.

If you are going with a twin engined bird, you will loose all the benefits of shared engines, and then you might as well not even bother with the J10 design and just start with a clean slate and maybe even go for full blooded stealth instead of just a semi stealth design.

With the number I agree with You, but I thought we already had seen 1. Div birds with TH !? ... I just checked my photos and You are correct !

the 1st division birds were the first batch of J-11Bs. Back then, TH was not yet ready, so they were all equipped with AL-31F

I think once you add the external stores that RCS reduction will quickly become irrelevant.

The RCS reduction seems to be purely side effects due to replacing of metal parts with composites rather than an active measure for radar LO.
