I think Lilzz is trying to say different between J-11B and J-15, not regarding the engine thing.

In that case he is probably right since some one claimed that these photographs were pictures of the naval J-11B a few months ago. Besides, there are no canards on these planes.

Thse are J-11B (in dark grey), J-11BH single seat fighters (in very light grey) and twin seters BS and BSH.

But sadly not the J-15.

Pardon me Deino, but in the 3rd pic you posted that showed several aircraft, the one in dark grey on the right seems to have a shorter sting as compared to the rest in the same pic.

Would that be the BS or BSH that you are talking about?

Hmmm ... sorry but IMO the sting isn't shorter ! (maybe only a bit becuase the brake-chute-opening is open !?)

As far as I understand these types, the J-11B is a upgraded single seater for the PLAAF ... if assigned to the PLA-NAF, then it's called BH.

The same is for the twin-seater J-11BS (PLAAF) ... to be BSH in PLA-NAF.

Could You shouw me this one with the shorter sting??

Its in the pictures you posted.

In this picture, if you look at the sting on the aircrafts, the dark grey one on the right has a shorter sting as compared to the dark grey and light grey aircraft on the left.

And this is the close up of the dark grey aircraft with the shorter sting.

I wonder if the photographer was trying to get a closer look at the sting actually.

O.k ... it's simply like I said the opening-cap (hinged to the top) for the braking-chute !

Really not the shorter sting of the carrier-version.

the way i see it its because the nozzle is longer compared to the 2 on the left. i believe the 2 planes on the left are using the AL-31 engines with the shorter nozzles while the plane you're pointing out is using WS-10 engines which have a longer nozzle, thus making the sting shorter. if you measure the sting from the tail planes its actually the same

those engineless J-11B/BS/BHs are waiting for FWS10s...

Ah yes! Forgot to look at the length of the engine nozzle from the tail rudder! :p
