She has a pretty large flight deck. That might well have been the starting point for the design. But why would a "cutter" need such a large flight deck?

That particular picture was taken before the hangar module was installed. The actual flight deck length is indicated by the distance with white handrails, the length beyond that is not part of the flight deck.

So its flight deck isn't quite that large, although it's big enough to comfortably operate a Z-8.

Looks like Type 071 LPD lol

A very nice looking ship and would be a great for one of those long range missions

Regarding the rear deck it's a coast ship so I guess they don't need such a large flat top deck area

I can't wait to see this in coast guard colours and the best part is they are building two units

I doubt it. Despite having a large displacement, it is still a coast guard ship. It doesn't need the performance of a front line surface combatant.

Though not a bad idea in having real world experience on such a power plant under less demanding situations.
