I think that would be dumb. The Chinese tactics and strategies are always about attacking the weakness and never the strength. So if foreign vessels have water cannons on them, the correct response is not putting water cannon on your own ships but to look for weaknesses in the opponent. For instance do they have any factories or assets in China, on which you can apply a graduated squeeze, and immediately rendering the water cannons useless. To contest with China, you really need to think beyond that of a 5 year old playing bang-bang with his toy boats. Installing water cannons is not beyond the capability of China. Their ships don't have them for a reason.

So if the foreign vessels have guns and missiles, you don't put them on your vessels and go look for some other weakness right? You seem to keep forgetting the CG is not the navy and you are addressing two goals here, to show the flag but to not come across as the aggressor. I think for some, this concept is hard to grasp. Soft power goes beyond the normal chest thumping routine.

Exactly, let's scare away all your foreign investment at a time when your economy is doing badly. Instead of cooling down tension, let's escalate it. Can we just stick with what coast guard should do around here?

Anyone know if the PRC is going to amalgamate the different maritime agencies into one?

Who are you to tell China how to run their coast guard and what they should have on their ships ? How do you compel China to operate their coast guard in the image of the US exactly ? Do you or your country have what it takes to fight China and subjugate their national policies ?

Factories being shut down because of protests, and bananas being found with disease are ways China use to defeat water and other type of cannons found on foreign ships. It works, and they have no reason to change their approach.

Feel free to provide evidence of lost foreign investment because of shut down factories and diseased bananas.

No, China have what they got because they rationally made it that way, and it is highly effective. It would be a mistake to believe everything must operate according to the US model. In terms of technology, China may copy others with a view to exceed. In terms of statecraft, China have little to learn from anyone.

do people here not realize I've been deleting posts for being off topic? Just to clear things up in case anyone is wondering still, I was born in China and lived 10 years there and still have many relatives in the country. I don't see how that has anything to do with my posts here. This topic here is on Chinese coast guard ships. Let's try harder to stick to the topic.

This is the kind of nonsense I get for trying to restore order on this forum and get conversation back to Coast Guard. Please read my post and see how much your answer has anything to do with it.

No, you don't send warships.. You will be escalating the tension.

At least in such a way your CG vessels will be equipped to some extend where'as if your opponent chooses to escalate the tension, you can have your CG vessel fully withdrawn intact (one piece) isn't it?

That's the billion yuan question, probably not gonna happen in the near future. Way too much conflict of interests involving multiple powerful ministries.

I'm looking forward to that. Idk much about the various agencies but I remember reading tphuang's blog previously and thought there is way too many to be efficient. I hope they do something about that. But I'm guessing if Hu is unable to do anything, Xi is certainly not powerful enough to push through the move.

Here's an example of China CG big guns at work. They are extremely effective and blows the foreign water cannon and CIWS out of the water. No response from the opponent is possible, not even a squeak. Can people see now why China needn't compete with the size of water and other cannons on ships ? This western my xxx is bigger than your xxx strategy is flawed when dealing with China. China will say: your xxx is bigger than our xxx is it ? Let us kick you in the yyy, then let's see how is your xxx doing.





More foreign investors are benefiting greatly from all of this. I suspect, not only will they not get scared and run away, they will actually egg China on to do a bit more kicking.
