i think that they are sincerely worried about chinese progress, china is running and they are walking. But it's not about money (by every estimate china spending only 2% of gdp in defense budget) it's about sheer numbers of engineers and commitment of chinese system to progress in defense capabilities and not money.

I would also wager a lot less corruption (look at the various US projects that have gone over budget and time as well), and it's quite relevant to also consider PPP so the chinese military spending is quite a lot bigger than most people think.

Like instead of the ~240 billion a year, when accounting for PPP it could very well be nearing 500 billion (although in reality probably still lower, and yet if you compare cost of say 052D, 055 to the US equivalent, China comes ahead). At the same time, the US is also paying for a lot of bases and the likes which also drains money.

If you look at the Global 500 aerospace and defense companies, US has 5 and China has 6, and their total revenue is about the same.

You can argue that the Chinese companies are more diversified. But Boeing has huge civilian aircraft business where Chinese companies don't.

So where does the money go regarding US military procurement budget? Anyone has good explanation?

The difference is the US doesn't want China to have it at all. They want a world where only they can have these things and somehow they think they can get others not to have them. There was some tweet posted in here that mentioned the US has only had a handful of hypersonic tests while China had hundreds. I don't know if China has had that many but waste money when China obviously can do it cheaper? This coming from the country that spends more money on its military than the next ten countries combined. How else does China do hundreds of tests when the US spends more on its military. Yeah it's the US would be wasting money...

Directly into the pockets of the rich people behind the various defense companies lol.

Also China is working on its civilian aircraft business.

on military expense, you can simply treat 1USD = 2(or 1.5) RMB, then everything will make sense.

Dead hand wouldnt extend to non nuclear powers, he wants to global reset all the regional powers/US allies, even fucking canada which entirely relies on the US for its economy, insanity right out of US early cold war thinking...
Don’t want to be nuked? Don’t be military allies with the country making veiled threats to launch first strikes on other nuclear powers.

Several years ago it was a big deal. Today... not so much. That's because back then the US assumed it would be first to then brag they have it. Before the J-20, stealth was invincible. After the J-20 all of the sudden stealth could be easily defeated. They exaggerate when they're the only ones to have it and then the "truth" comes out when they aren't the only ones. What they don't talk about which tells a lot is now all of the US and its allies are in range where before the range issue comforted them. They talk about how Aegis can knock this down. Are they going to spend the money to make enough Aegis ships to encircle the US? How about this satellite system they say they can put up to track hypersonic missiles? How about allies? Lots of money they don't have that will have to be spent.
